Correct but don't forget the majority will be shipments from shippers that have been sending similar cargo for many years.

I am certain the physical inspection 5% are from new shippers and random searches.

What I was really shocked by in the last few weeks (yes I still get shocked), is when the CONgress critters acted like they were more important and have more Power than the President and that they were going to knock him down a few pegs. When my CONgress creep was on a local radio show all cocky and banty(bantam) roosterish I wanted to call his Office and tell him exactly what I thought, but I would get a great Civil Servant who has worked for the last three Congressmen for this District, and there is a time to cool off and wait until the right moment. He is running for re-election and will be around asking for a handout and support and I will have to control myself so that I do not hand him fake dog doo from the gag store, or the real thing. I will let him know exactly what I think, but out of the earshot of the ever present media pukes. He knows I can tell who they are right off, and I know how to "snow " the lightweights.

Have rethought my comment of 3 physical inspections in 25 years this is correct.

2 imports and one export.

So overall the 5% figure to me seems very impressive logistically more than that would bring the ports to a stand still and international trade with the US would be impossible.

The bottom line is most shipments are repeat shipments from recognised shippers with recognised cargo.

"Scanned for Radiation" is what the head of DHS or the Coast Guard said on Tony Snow's show. Kind of hard to scan for radiation by reading a manifest. "The 100% of the manifests is scanned" was a Senator's Talking Point in the Hearings that has been picked up and used by the Port Critics to attack the facts.

Where is the documentation for the statement that "Scanning means reading a manifest"? There has been a nasty habit of the Port Deal Critics making statements of "Fact" that turn out to be false or misleading. I suggest we take none of their "Facts" as gospel until we independently verify them.

Whenever the separation of powers is talked about in Congress, it is ALWAYS referred to as their job to be a CHECK AND BALANCE for the White House...they never acknowledge that the POTUS has powers separate from theirs that is done without needing permission.

head of the Armed Services Committee, am sure he (Hunter) is under a security mute...and I think he is in the know..more than.... gasp..gasp...Freepers.

If he can talk about it on a TV Talk Show he can provide the documentation and is NOT under a Security Mute. Sorry but to say he is under a "Security Mute" excuse is obviously fraudulent when HE is the one running around telling the media this "Fact". Seem another made up rumor is nuked again. What the next one for the Port Deal Critics to make up?

I work for a shipper in the UK and I know that all manifests are checked because several times before my cargo is allowed to fly or sail I have been asked questions about my goods.

My company has been shipping goods to America for over 30 years so if we are still questioned sometimes I think that people can be fairly satisfied that check and balances are being applied.

The radiation thing I only have knowledge from what was said on Hannity and Colmes I am not even sure if we do that the other way I will have to ask the next time I import goods.

Security...Security...As head of the Armed Services Committee, am sure he (Hunter) is under a security mute...and I think he is in the know..more than.... gasp..gasp...Freepers. Jake

Intresting how the the Port Deal Critics scream "White House PR and Spin" at EVERY fact thrown their way then merely SNEER at those who ask THEM to provide even a SHRED of documentation. Sorry but if he is out gabbing to the Press on the topic he is under NO Security mute. Where is the evidence to prove this claim?

Additonally, "Armed Services Comittee" would have NOTHING to do with a Diplomatic or FBI matter. "A Bust" is not done by the Military but by Law Enforcement. So Hunter, like most of the Gutless Congress spin stoodges, seems to be repeating rumor and hearsay.

Can I ask for your thoughts and prayers, dad has pre op meeting tomorrow and if blood and ECG results OK the actual cardioversion to get his heart beating in rhythm on Wednesday.

You, and he, have them.  Compared to what he's getting set to do I feel a little sheepish for blithering on about what I'm going to do.

There's one piece of advice that I found to be helpful way back when I was driving an ambulance and it's still true.  Those who have loved ones who are in this sort of situation need to make sure that they take care of themselves, too.  You won't do him any good if you're burned out.  Make sure you take care of snugs through all of this.

May I also say that he is a very proper looking gentleman. Or am I being cheeky?

Sorry, that's what we American's think folks from the "old country" talk like.  It comes from watching old BBC shows like Duchess of Duke Street on PBS.  Of course, I did name my two youngest Charles Bruce and Victoria Elizabeth, though all but Victoria are family names.

And he knows it, but to what end? That is the part I find disturbing.

And who is going to keep track of the ballots if democrats are in charge? We went through this in Florida many years ago. There are actual videos of Reps from The League of Women Voters in the back room of one of the biggest Precincts in South Florida actually punching out the ballots that were supposedly already punched by the voter. In that same huge back room were Democrat Candidates, Judges, and Janet Reno all where they had no Business being witnessing their cohorts do their dirty work. If I am in charge of these Precincts I can throw out the legal ballots marked for the GOP candidate and bring in tons of ringers/brand new unmarked ballots and punch out or mark the Democrat slot. Voila, voter theft/voter fraud and that is exactly why Richardson and the Dirty Dems there pushed this through. If I recall the Secretary of State is also a Dem, and a mindless, biased, ranter and raver.
