This is true, the corruption and greed of the Politicians most of which if not all were democrats was the paramount deciding factor in this tragedy. They knew for years that the day would come, and like most greedy pigs they rolled the dice even when the odds and the law of averages was not on their side. They figured they could get by one more time, and they lost the roll if the dice, they crapped out and people are dead, and most of the Population is scattered in a dozen or more States now. They will spend the next 8 months trying to figure a way outside of kidnapping to bring those Dem voters back to a freaking below sea level swamp. I would not be surprised if Mr. Jefferson (Democrat Louisiana)is right now as we freep trying to find a way to stay out of Prison and get re-elected without constituents in that District.

Agreed. We may not always agree on everything but there isn't a session I'm on FR that I don't learn something new. And, I'm also finding FR to be a good resource for searching for news that old media ignores or misreports.

That is going to be one heck of a "get out the vote" drive.

Except that he told Juanita Broaddrick to "put some ice on that", after he raped her.

Well..... many of their base voters, those who reside in the cemeteries, are still there.

Try this thread for some basic facts on the Ports. It may lead you to some new and interesting sources. Have another one that specifically mentions Radiation scanning. Cannot remember who was on Tony Snow's Radio show that made the point about 100% scanned. This thread is based on a Feb 22nd webposting at DHS.

Fact Sheet: Securing U.S. Ports (DHS Press release: we are screening 100% of shipping containers) DHS ^ | Feb. 22, 2006 | DHS

Posted on 03/04/2006 12:31:35 PM PST by FairOpinion

Fact Sheet: Securing U.S. Ports

The Administration has dramatically strengthened port security since 9/11.

Funding has increased by more than 700% since September 11, 2001. Funding for port security was approximately $259 million in FY 2001. DHS spent approximately $1.6 billion on port security in FY 2005.

Following 9/11, the federal government has implemented a multi-layered defense strategy to keep our ports safe and secure. New technologies have been deployed with additional technologies being developed and $630 million has been provided in grants to our largest ports, including $16.2 million to Baltimore; $32.7 million to Miami; $27.4 million to New Orleans, $43.7 million to New York/New Jersey; and $15.8 million to Philadelphia.

Who Secures The Ports:

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP): CBP’s mission is to prevent terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the United States by eliminating potential threats before they arrive at our borders and ports.

CBP uses intelligence and a risk-based strategy to screen information on 100% of cargo before it is loaded onto vessels destined for the United States. All cargo that is identified as high risk is inspected, either at the foreign port or upon arrival into the U.S.

Coast Guard: The Coast Guard routinely inspects and assesses the security of U.S. ports in accordance with the Maritime Transportation and Security Act and the Ports and Waterways Security Act. Every regulated U.S. port facility is required to establish and implement a comprehensive security plan that outlines procedures for controlling access to the facility, verifying credentials of port workers, inspecting cargo for tampering, designating security responsibilities, training, and reporting of all breaches of security or suspicious activity, among other security measures. Working closely with local port authorities and law enforcement agencies, the Coast Guard regularly reviews, approves, assesses and inspects these plans and facilities to ensure compliance.

Terminal Operator: Whether a person or a corporation, the terminal operator is responsible for operating its particular terminal within the port. The terminal operator is responsible for the area within the port that serves as a loading, unloading, or transfer point for the cargo. This includes storage and repair facilities and management offices. The cranes they use may be their own, or they may lease them from the port authority.

Port Authority: An entity of a local, state or national government that owns, manages and maintains the physical infrastructure of a port (seaport, airport or bus terminal) to include wharf, docks, piers, transit sheds, loading equipment and warehouses.

Ports often provide additional security for their facilities.

Snip.......

The problem for us is all the Talking Heads define reality by poll numbers. They base everything on what they read in the polls. That is why you get such shock out of them Election Night. The data never matches the REAL results. This is an excellent example of how Garbage IN, Garbage OUT works.

Come election eve, the shock is always with the Rats, as evidenced by their determination to overturn the Ohio election results. They couldn't believe W won; after all the exit polls couldn't be wrong.

Here in New Mexico, they were saying the same thing. W shouldn't have won the state. The fact that he did must mean that the election was rigged. Consequently, they just got the legislature and Richardson to throw out machine balloting and have gone back to paper ballots, to be marked and read by a #2 pencil or some such instrument. Surprisingly, I agree with that approach as the Dems are in charge of all the elections and programming of the electronic machines here. Having paper ballots that can be rechecked works for me -- as long as you keep track of the ballots, both those that have been cast, and those that would be cast by Rat pimps and later slipped into the counting line.

New Orleans did go through at least one, and maybe two, practice scenarios, including one with flooding from a levee breech.

Hurricane Pam.

Hi Sandy, I think you posted the original link about Port Security on the Tony Snow thread that laid out the facts about Port Container Security. Did you happen to hand on to that?

If yes, can you post it to: Cboldt

I have seen the 30' wave. It's on video. Homemade. A camera that was secured to a utility pole. Many in NO are well aware of it. How high would the walls, levees, etc., etc., etc., (all those things that are described as 'breached') need to be to stop a 30' wave?

Details please. Location, time, source (the lake, Industrial Canal?) etc. Any FR thread or other documentation on it?

The 100% being checked was from a port guy being interviewed on Fox.

Like I said, it depends on what one means by "being checked." Ship manifests are reviewed before the ship docks - 100%.

Good afternoon! I just got home from work, so I missed all of the shows, but I see FEMA Brown (sounds like a rapper)was on this morning. Anything new there? Or was still trying to blame the Bush admin for a hurricane?

If I remember correctly it was also mentioned on Hannity and Colmes when they visited the ports that all containers are scanned for radiation and 5% are physically inspected.

Having worked in exports for over 25 years I am impressed that 5% are inspected in my 25 years I think only 3 of my shipments and it may only be 2 have ever been physically inspected.

Hunter, went on CNN yesterday and accused the UAE of not cooperating with the bust of the WMD centrifuges that passed through the Port of Dubai. However, Hunter gave no supporting evidence. Apparently from the reports I've read on this thread, he didn't even make the charge today. The president, the CIC of the WOT has said that that the UAE has done a great job helping us in the WOT. If Hunter has evidence that the UAE hindered the investigation of the A.Q. Khan smuggling ring he should come out and say it or he should -- shut up.

As head of the Armed Services Committee, am sure he (Hunter) is under a security mute...and I think he is in the know..more than.... gasp..gasp...Freepers.

As the CIC of the WOT, I'm sure the President is in the know..more than Hunter.

BTW, be sure to have a doctor look at that convulsive "gasp" breathing problem you have.

Welcome aboard. Others may disagree but I thought Brown did pretty well. Yes, he's at odds with Chertoff and he broke the rules by going around Chertoff in his attempts to get things done, but he overvall sense of what he says on FNS today makes sense to me. Wallace asked him some pretty pointed questions as well.

You'll also enjoy Brit Hume's evaluation of things. Once again, Hume seems to be one of the few who really understands what is going on. Oh yeah, and at ten till the hour, Juan will comment that he's unhappy with all the Bush bashing. More than a few people on FR spilled their coffee.
