03/02/06 FOX Poll: Most Oppose Port Deal; Republicans Lose Ground Thursday, March 02, 2006 By Dana Blanton PHOTOS

Most Americans oppose allowing a Dubai company to run some U.S. ports, even as a majority understands the U.S. would continue to control port security, according to a new FOX News poll. One in four sees the United Arab Emirates as a strong ally, but most either disagree or are unsure.

In addition, the poll shows Republicans have lost ground on the issue of terrorism, and by a wide margin voters now think it would be better for the country if Democrats win control of Congress in this year’s midterm election.

For only the second time of his presidency, the poll finds that President Bush’s overall job approval rating has fallen below 40 percent — today 39 percent of Americans say they approve and a 54 percent majority disapproves. Late last year the president’s approval hit a record-low of 36 percent (8-9 November 2005).

Oh yes, I am positive that your scenario is correct.

OTOH, the antis, here, will be screaming about this, through the '08 election; perhaps even beyond, even though NONE of their prognostications ( nukes blowing up New Jersey )will happen.

I'm thinking of starting an FR drinking game, in which everyone has to down a shot every time Dominic Harr asks for a specific example of DPW endangering port security. :)

Already started the game! I'm into my 3rd Shiner Bock. Am I winning -- or losing? :-D

We couldn't make a game about drinking when folks give an example of DPW endangering port security, cuz we'd never get to drink!!!

Without examples?

In your opinion, thinking folks don't require evidence of wrongdoing before condeming a company as an enemy of America?

nukes blowing up New Jersey

The sad thing is that some in the FRPPOC (Free Republic Perpetually Pissed Off Crowd) actually wants nukes to go off in the U.S., especially if the nukes came across the Southern border.

I couldn't help but notice the deliberate way you misrepresented my comments by substituing "arab" for "muslim."

The poll question in the article at the top of this thread indicates that there is a 70% bias against Arabs. That's why I used the term "Arab."

You're the obfuscator, attempting to tie this to Islam, when it is clearly about the "swarthy dark people" known as Arabs.

Question #2: Specifically how will it be harder to do this if the UAE ports deal did not happen?

It won't be harder. Just go to the Dubai port and use another shipping company that leases a America terminal.

find some specific evidence of wrongdoing by this company that made a port unsafe

Yes, and give that nice Saudi fella, Atta whatever, that loan for a fleet of crop dusters, too. No evidence against him!

I'll bet I'll have more fun, doing a "bottoms up" every time one of you foot stompers fails to answer his question.

1/2 truths? You try and prove there 1/2 truths. You won't be able too.

snide insinuations.

Wrong again. That's called confidence.

The company isn't buying our ports, they are taking over a few leases on a few terminals and everything will remain in place at it is.

Ouch! I can't drink hard liquor anymore, unless it's in a froo froo drink like a pina colada or margarita!

I'm just getting to old . . .

Seriously, if you want to get my attention, or the attention of anyone who requires evidence, then dig into it, find one single example of what you fear ever happening.

Until then, you're just predicting something that seems highly unlikely.

Thinking people will require evidence.

And you believe that this company is as 'evil' as Mo Atta?

Interesting. Why do you believe that? I'd be interested -- when has this company ever done anything to make you believe they're evil?

You've proven my point. You have no earthly idea who these companies are and who runs them. Thanks.

(*gu--) Oh, it's you, sinkspur.... I almost wasted a perfectly good drink....

I considered making a rule that a single sip had to be taken every time you called somebody a racist for disagreeing with you, but then we'd all have been under the table a long time ago.... :)

"...when a legitimate opportunity that could work to your benefit could be shot down because a bunch of crackers don't like the color of your skin."

UAE visa handbook:

"The three entry requirements of obtaining a visa in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and its seven emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah) are that you are not a citizen of Israel, that your passport doesn't contain Israeli stamps, and that your passport is valid for at least 6 months before your arrival. Information about the various UAE visa categories are explained in detail below..."

So sinks, what is the color of the skin of an Israeli that is denied entry to the UAE... and on what grounds are they denied?
