I thought she would be kind of a diva, but she's actually one of the most likable people on the show. She has dairy farm in New Mexico (I think).

"Is that a tear, Pantera? Is daddy's little girl upset?"

Later, the band Rush comes on.

"Oh, it's Rush." /utter contempt

You could Google some Woman in Red shots, but I don't think they'd be postable here.

Turn pro, and see how much money and respect you get when you don't win anything but have a good time partying. I don't get the attitude that this guy who joined this team voluntarily is some kind of a rebel just because he parties and doesn't listen to The Authorities or whatever. Don't you enter a sporting event to win?

Alpine skiers have been pros now for many years. I would say a conservative estimate would put the top 20 contenders in the millionaire $$$ status now.

Miller didn't "join the team", he merely was included due to his onslope performances while at the same time being sponsored by who knows how many companies. He and the rest of the alpine ski team have no one to report to other than their sponsors. There is no loyalty to their assigned coaches, no loyalty to the USA, no loyalty to the thousands of teenage kids who idolize them.

Miller and this ski team epitomize the ultimate degradation of olympic alpine sports in the United States due to the uncontrolled but necessary inpact of corporate sponsorship required to keep it going.

The European countries are no different in that regard. Fortunately for them, the skiers being sponsored are hungry and from a very early age are taught that if you want to be a winner, you gotta work for it............

My husband and I laughed at ourselves for watching curling, but in no time, we realized we were actually enjoying it. The announcers from FARGO were so much fun!!! And what a change from our usual early morning television viewing habits. And I think the only olympic event shown live.

Of course, we are mighty glad we don't live in the far north where wintertime recreational activities are limited to what you can do with a rock, in a frozen over bowling alley.
Or have pretty little blondes screaming "HARD!" "HARD!" at the top of their lungs. (We still don't know what that was all about.) Or why they don't have guys and gals curling together...it's one sport where they could .

And the US men won a bronze. Wahooooo!

Dear NBC Winter Olympics advertiser:

Sunday night during the Closing Ceremony telecast I was reminded by Tom Brokaw that all white Americans are racists. Being a white American myself, I have decided to atone for my crime by not buying your products. We white racists are not worthy of patronizing your company.

Sincerely,
Racist White Guy

Sad, but true. I stupidly thought they would actually start the closing ceremonies when they said they would be on.

I know exactly of what you speak....I hear you..

Hopefully your trip will wrap itself up soon and you can get home to your family.

I think you should kill some time at that downtown mall- You could get a chew toy for the doggie, a wonderful toy for your little girl and a lovely trinket for your wife.. there. Trust me, you will feel so much closer to them all if you do. (hehe)

I would be checking out the bands at the Slippery Noodle with my free time..should we look and see who is playing tonight?

"Some people look at disability as a tragedy; I look at it as a career move." --Mayor of Vancouver

I'm surprised they aired that quote. It's not in keeping with the euthanasia crowd that the MSM championss.

Did anyone catch the mayor's name? (If not, I suppose I could google if I don't catch it during the ceremonies. I want to use that quote on chronic-illness.org.) ;)

I have a question about that curling stuff; where is it really popular in the United States? And is the only time we see it going to be during the Olympics?

--I became a fan of this sport over the last two weeks. Where else can I listen to Norwegian women yell like that and be able to say it's "HAMMER-time."
