Freeper Research Project: Freeper personality tests
Jung Personality Test ^ | February 23, 2006 | Alamo-Girl

Posted on 02/23/2006 9:20:32 AM PST by Alamo-Girl

Would you like to learn a little more about yourself and your fellow posters on Free Republic? If so, you might enjoy this Freeper Research Project.

It began on another thread where people were testing themselves for “nerdiness”. Great fun was had by all.

Along the way, Freeper patton posted a link to the Jung personality test.

What an adventure! I took the test for the first time and found out I am an INFJ (I=44, N=75, F=25, J=25).

Because we were sharing the results of our tests on that thread, I was pleasantly surprised to discover three other Freepers with the same personality type. And, naturally, being curious – some of us went to yet another link to find out what the code means and what famous people are INFJs:

Type Logic

The strange part is that INFJ’s are the smallest in the general population, but among those posting on the thread, INFJs were in the majority. Does that mean that INFJ’s are drawn to Free Republic or to those kinds of tests, or are more willing to discuss such things?

At any rate, it is a delightful musing about this forum, the posters we are drawn to (or against): does the Jung personality test have anything useful to say to us?

If you are interested or perhaps would just like to have some fun, take the test and check out the results. And if you’re willing, post your results here on this thread so that we can all “compare notes”.

The results so far:

INFJ: Indy Pendance, Knitting a Conundrum, Grey-whiskers, Alamo-Girl

INTJ: John O (67,62,25,67), hosepipe (11,50,19,56), Cyclopean Squid (44,100,62,56)

INTP: marron

ENFJ: .30Carbine (1,50,75,22) , phantomworker (39,57,40,12)

Powder..Patch..Ball FIRE!

INFP (11,38,75,33)

Healer Idealists are abstract in thought and speech, cooperative in striving for their ends, and informative and introverted in their interpersonal relations. Healer present a seemingly tranquil, and noticiably pleasant face to the world, and though to all appearances they might seem reserved, and even shy, on the inside they are anything but reserved, having a capacity for caring not always found in other types. They care deeply-indeed, passionately-about a few special persons or a favorite cause, and their fervent aim is to bring peace and integrity to their loved ones and the world.

Healers have a profound sense of idealism derived from a strong personal morality, and they conceive of the world as an ethical, honorable place. Indeed, to understand Healers, we must understand their idealism as almost boundless and selfless, inspiring them to make extraordinary sacrifices for someone or something they believe in. The Healer is the Prince or Princess of fairytale, the King's Champion or Defender of the Faith, like Sir Galahad or Joan of Arc. Healers are found in only 1 percent of the general population, although, at times, their idealism leaves them feeling even more isolated from the rest of humanity.

I am laughing so hard at your comment that I couldn't even adjust my mouse to click "post reply!"

I'm afraid you have just described me. I feel so exposed. (;

This type is referred to by Keirsey as "the Mastermind Rational," with Ulysses S. Grant as the prototype and with no more than 1% of the population (but, apparently, several of us FReepers) falling in that category.

Sorry, but these tests are no better than a palm reading Gypsy woman. In fact, they are the modern version of palm reading, astrology and similar sciences. One giveaway sign of trouble: the questions don't allow for ambiguity, or lack of opinion, or variation. I bet you that tomorrow, taking the very same test you'd come up with a different (if somewhat similar) score. I don't know, sometimes I do, it depends, is how we all are. Life ain't a mathematical equation.

INTJ in the extreme.

I'm noticing the introverts here are way over represented vs. the general population.

Of course, most of the "E's" of the world are out and about looking for conversation.

I've been reading about Myers-Briggs for years. I was wondering when this subject was going to come up on this forum. I'm an INFJ as well.

What made some of the questions difficult to answer for me, and probably for a lot of people, is that under some circumstances I would go one way, and in others, the other. And then there is the fact that when I was younger, I would have gone one way, but over time I have come to lean the other. Or that in my natural self I lean one way but in my actual behavior I go the other. So which way should I answer, how I feel, or how I behave? Switching from one to the other gives slightly different results that give rather large differences in scoring.

Same here.
