FReeper Canteen ~ Military Short Speak ~ Feb. 6, 2006
(Thanks Bro!) | Sweet Polly Purebread

Posted on 02/05/2006 6:58:31 PM PST by StarCMC

FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT
Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies military and the family members of the above.
Honoring those who have served before.

********

That's right - the Canteen mission
Support the troops and all they do
They've given up so much
All for me and you

There are so many here
Who keep the aim sure and true
They support the troops
And have lots of fun too

We dance and play
And spin on our toes
A turn of phrase
A joke or some prose

All for the troops
Who visit and  bask
Looking for a friend
A break from their task

So thanks to my friends
You know who you are
This army sister's brother
Is home from the war

You made my life easy
You taught me some things
You brought me such peace
You gave me wings

I'll always hold dear
The ones who have cared
Who gave me their true friendship
Thank you FReeper Canteen.

~ MILITARY SHORT SPEAK ~

ArmyPatch small   NavySeal small   Air Force Seal   Marines Seal small   Coast Guard Seal small (better)

Acronyms, initialisms and abbreviations that aren't generally used in the "civilian world."

What is an acronym? It is a word created from the first letter of a series of other words. It is spoken as one word.

What is an initialism? It is a word created from the first letter of a series of other words, but each letter is spoken separately.

What is an abbreviation? It is a shortened version of a word.

What is Short Speak? It is any and all of the above.

Want to know what  they are talking about?  Read on...

RESDAT  RESTRICTED DATA - Atomic Energy Act of 1954

RESHIP  report of shipment

RESOMS  Resource Scheduling and Operational Management System

Retreat

A bugle call sounded when the U. S. flag is being lowered at the end of the day.
Retriever
A special tank designed as a sort of "wrecker" for tanks. What they are able to do is almost a miracle.

retro  retrofit

REU  remote emitter unit

Reveille

A signal to awaken, get out of bed and begin the day. Often a bugle call, in boot camp more often the yells and screams of Drill Instructors and the sounds of GI cans crashing to the deck.

Please remember: the Canteen is a place to honor and entertain our troops.
As such we attempt to keep it MOSTLY apolitical.
Thanks for playing and have a nice day!  LOL!!!

Hey there! I did hit "next" once but will go back and see if I can find your favs! The only one I really looked at so far was the "magic fridge" that everyone seems to be talking about.

How are you doing today? Hope you're not having to work too hard! :o)

I'm off! Yay!! The hardest thing I did today was a little on-line shopping for DVDs. ;o)

Hi!

The RDA commercial is on page three. As a big Stargate fan I thought that was especially funny, even though it's based on MacGyver.

Sounds like a real strenuous day. :)

Oh no!! Would a rental be in order for Monday? Would it be easier to arrive on their doorstep?

That's not a deer. It's a velociraptor, which made it even more funny if you've seen Jurassic Park. :)

Was the RDA one the Mastercard one? Everytime I view the video it kicks me offline. Weird.

What kind of crazy animals would do that Charlie Brown?

Why does the New York Times love them so much?

Why do Hillary and John Kerry take their money?

It was funny. Nice to be able to watch the commercials and not have to watch the game, huh? Since it was rotten....well, maybe not if you're a Steelers fan! :o)
