No, no -- it wasn't said on the air. A FReeper posted it. Randy White *looks* dead.

I'm aware of that. I've watched games every Sunday for 35 years.

I saw a Seattle team that was physical, nearly to the point of dominance in the first half, but suffered three breakdowns that allowed Pittsburgh to execute big plays. Their advantages in the first half were 154-113 in yards, 8-6 in first downs and 16:48 of possession - when the game was quite close.

I saw a team that was hamstrung by huge penalties at the worst possible times, and I saw a team that by the quality of its play was at least as good as its opponent with the variable of officiating removed.

Pittsburgh was flagged twice for false start on its first drive, once for offensive pass interference in the second quarter and then not again for the entire game. Seattle took seven flags for seventy yards and virtually every one was a killer.

Bottom line - statistically, Seattle was a more than worthy opponent. That was my point.

Yeah, I did... Former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Harvey Martin, once a Super Bowl MVP, died of pancreatic cancer. He was 51. Martin died at 8:24 Monday night December 23, 2001 at Baylor Medical Center in Grapevine, Texas.

They won the game, but they beat the #6 seed so.. ehhh who cares like I said Super Bowl Xtra Lame

OK, I can accept that...no love for beating a #6 seed...and especially when the other teams ends up with the higher score. To be honest, I don't care much rather others show lots of respect to the Hawks. I enjoyed their season, and I know they're the best team this year. They don't have too many free agents...the biggest that come to mind are Alexander, Hutchinson and Jurivicus.

Yeah, but then again, this was one game too many for the Steelers, in my opinion. After three tough road games in successive weeks they looked jaded to me but they still had enough to win.

They weren't at their best tonight....not by a long chalk, but seeing as they're the first six seed to go all the way, that's to be expected. Seattle had a bye, then two home games, then another two week break, so they should have looked the fresher of the two teams.

Bad calls are bad calls. They happen all the time but you can't the game on them. To me, the game breakers were Rothlisberger's scramble and toss to Hines Ward at the 2 yard line which resulted in the Steeler's first touchdown and Hasselback's pick late in the game which ended up with Randle El's gadget play to Ward for a TD.

That no call on the horse collar of Shawn Alexander while the game was up in the air was pretty lame as well.

Why have that rule if the refs can not even call the classic textbook example of a horse collar.

Hawks are a very good team.......they moved the ball well on a very good defense.

They played a good game, hang in there, they may take it next year, they are young and they are talented.

That being said........Go Pistons!

I will guarantee this; if the teams had been wearing opposite uniforms, and the calls against the Hawks had been called against the Steelers, the Steeler fans would be every bit as "whiny" as the Seahawk fans.

Oh, I didn't know he is the only one. Yeah, they "should've" said something. BUT, you know how it is ... Dallas ... Texas ... red state ... flyover country. Not important to the Powers That Be. Just like our Big 12 conference.

Echo... get a grip! They do not fix football games in the NFL. There are bad calls and no calls, but they are NO fixes.

Next thing you'll be saying it was a fix that I won this year's Free Republic Yahoo Fantasy Football Super Bowl!

Then I'll have to hunt you down and kill you...

True you can't reject the schedule, but you can't expect to get more respect than the conference you play in. I'm not sure why anybody said they'd lose to the Skins or Panthers, the Skins sucked horribly against the Bucs and I had them losing badly, once Foster went down the Panthers were one dimensional and the Bears should have beat them. And remember this year the Hawks DIDN'T play anybody, they had a cupcake schedule and thanks to the vaguery of the playoff stuff they got as close to a cupcake playoff schedule as you can get (5 and 6 in your conference, 6 from the other), that is a perfectly legitimate hit on the Hawks.

THe Hawks didn't have that big an advantage on TOP. While I totally respect TOP I think until the difference is 10 minutes it's not that meaningful. All the predictions I heard said the weakness of both defenses was the secondary but the Hawks secondary was a little weaker than the Steelers and that would probably be the difference, and it was. I didn't hear anybody say the Steelers D would shut them down, shut down the run is about the most I heard predicted.
