Yes, he let the Dems get away with their stalling and other nonsense. But he never wavered in his support. As the leader of the RINOs he was able to keep almost all of them intact.
I was as upset as anybody around here about him getting the chairmanship, but he has been able to get the job done. All I care about is results, and we got them.
Whatever the reason or the force behind it, he has come through for us the last 3 times in a row (Thomas, Roberts, and Alito).
Now I will brace myself for the certain missiles headed my way.

This shows how stupid they are. To sustain a filibuster, you need to have 41 votes against CLOTURE, not against the nominee. They only got 25 Senators yesterday to vote against cloture. The DUmmies fail to take into account some political realities. Namely, that some of the Democrat Senators come from conservative states. This includes Byrd, Rockefeller, Bill Nelson, Ben Nelson, Lincoln, Pryor, Landrieu, Conrad, Dorgan, Johnson, Bingaman, Salazar, and Baucus. These Senators couldn't possibly afford to filibuster a popular and totally qualified nominee such as Alito. A filibuster would draw the process out and focus public attention on the issue more, making it harder for them continue their filibuster with each passing minute for the simple reason that their constituents would oppose the filibuster.
These Senators might be able to get away with voting "no" on Alito. But only if they cushion the blow by voting against a filibuster. This way, when their GOP challenger brings the issue up in their next election, they can point out that they didn't filibuster him and that their "no" vote didn't really matter since he was confirmed anyway.
Believe me, if Alito had been unpopular, the Rats would have filibustered him. What this vote shows is that he was too popular to filibuster.
Justice Alito's mom is a hero. Before they sequestered her she said, "Of course my son opposes abortion. He's a good Catholic boy." I just love her candor! (But we've got to keep her away from Connie Chung.)

As I've stated earlier, perhaps it is time we acknowledge with gratitude that perhaps Divine Providence has, once again, intervened in the affairs of this nation.
It is not the time for planting sectarian divisions among those who share a common belief in Creator-endowed life and liberty for each person, no matter how tiny and helpless.

Jefferson's observation is more relevant today than ever. Our concern should be those of the Far Left who deny the source of our life and liberty and do not hold to the idea expressed by JFK in his Inaugural:

That's like saying Alito and any other Italians should be discounted as fit for the judiciary because of the Mafia's existence. If you were interested enough, you'd have learned of Alito's judicial record, adherence to the Constitution and the law, and his integrity. You've obviously deprived yourself of essential information prior to posting such blather. Ridiculous.

I also think the Catholic Church more closely than any other church/denomination parallels the plight of our country's self-government with respect to liberalism. (i.e. though it's ancient foundation is a bedrock of truth and goodness, it's leadership over time is still subject to the meanderings of fallen human perspective and the lure of a "new and improved" church/government). Each therefore (the RCC and our Republic) must be willing to continually purge itself of evil within it's ranks -- evil which often poses as "positive, liberating change". It must gaurd against the natural erosion of it's core values by measuring all changes back against the foundation (Christ and early Chruch Fathers /the Constitution and its framers) as the true barometer.
Thank God for Pope Benedict XVI and Justice Samuel Alito!
