Good morning, all.
Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."
It's all over except the final vote tally.
Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?

I saw on NRO yesterday the following from a lefty website:
From
vichydems.blogspot.com
SECOND, call the "URGE ABSTENTION" Senators identified immediately below and do the same -- say that you hope they vote NO on cloture this afternoon but if they can't, urge them to ABSTAIN from the cloture vote by visiting wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Hospital at 4:30 p.m. Doing so will be just as good as a "no" vote but will give them political cover with their conservative voters back home. Again, call their DC AND District offices. And again, if their staff will commit to a position on cloture and/or abstention, please post a comment here.
By coincidence, Harkin was at Walter Reed yesterday. Nice way to use the troops for your political cover Senator Harkin. I do not know if Hagel was with him.

The confirmation vote WILL start at 11:04 AM. ALito will be confirmed, probably with the results announced by 11:30. The vote in favor will be at least 58, and could be as much as 60. Landrieu and Rockefeller are the only two "undeclared".

Reid: "...radical right wing torpedoed" the Miers nomination.
You bet!
[Wasn't Miers YOUR recommendation, Senator Reid?]

That's why Janice Rogers Brown should be put up next (Of course she has the rest down pat); Then maybe finally, finally black Americans can see who supports them.

No. It was a link to a photo of John Ensign in post #448. The mods deleted the post.

Yeah, what is it with Specter and "the right to choose"? Every time he has the camera, he focuses on it like nothing else in the world is of any consequence.
Maybe he's gay.

remember many here said Hillary would never make it to the Senate, but there she is...keeping a low profileAnd she got her seat because Chuck Schumer kept such a low profile that moderate New Yorkers forgot they already had a Leftist Senator and would have no representation in the US Senate after Hillary was elected.
