Good morning, all.

Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."

It's all over except the final vote tally.

Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?

You all are going to LOVE THIS..

Howie Dean is doing OPPOSITION RESEARCH ON HARRY REID!

Red on Red...

Dean, according to the sources, was fascinated by the details, and asked that his staff research and independently confirm everything on the documents. "Basically he oppo'd a member of his own party," says a DNC source loyal to Dean.

"Basically, we were looking at three- or four-page documents that made Jack Abramoff's lobbying work look like that of a rank amateur," says the DNC source. "Between the minority leader's past in Nevada and here in Washington, and the activities of his sons and son-in-law, there probably isn't anyone in this town with more conflicts. The Reid family is the symbol of what's wrong with Washington; it's their behavior that enabled the culture that spawned people like Abramoff."

It's Christmas morning again!!

It takes 55 minutes for 99 votes and five minutes for Sen. Kennedy to read the statement from PFAW telling him how to vote.
---
In the end, he's already so boozed up that one of his staffers will have to come onto the floor to read it and tell him what it says.

I think it was Maxine Waters (?) who said "I must march because my mother could not have an abortion."

Is she trying to say. "My mother should have been allowed to kill me, dammit"!

She isn't smart enough to figure that out.......

Are these Radical Left Democrats so out of touch with reality that they do not recognize that history will prove them wrong on their charges against this good man? Never mind, I know the answer!

On another note, does anyone have the transcript of Senator Inhofe's statements yesterday?

If you watch McCain, he'll stand near the desk (and the camera) and wait until everybody else has voted and then he'll vote; that way he can see if his vote is "needed" or not; if it's not, he can then "vote his conscious," you know?

I have heard that even though he has often promised to vote for a bill for one of his colleagues, if his vote isn't needed, he'll vote however he "needs" to vote and then walk off the floor without explaining to his "fellow friend" why he's screwing them.

Her snowness has graciously decided to vote Yes.

I haven't seen a news report to that effect - but expect that's how she'll vote.

This is TOO rich. I wish this could be posted as a thread. You'll laugh OUT LOL!! Interested in comments:

Soros Says Kerry's Failings Undermined Campaign Against Bush

Jan. 30 -- Billionaire investor George Soros, the biggest financial contributor to the failed effort to defeat President George W. Bush in November's election, said Democratic challenger John Kerry was a flawed candidate.

Soros, chairman of Soros Fund Management LLC, spent $26 million in last year's campaign that he said was undermined by the candidate he supported.

``Kerry did not, actually, offer a credible and coherent alternative,'' Soros, 74, said yesterday in an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. ``That had a lot to do with Bush being re-elected.''

The comments by the Hungarian-born Soros marked his sharpest criticism of Kerry, a Vietnam War veteran who later spoke against the war and focused his campaign against Bush on the war in Iraq. Republicans gained four seats in the Senate, including the defeat of the Senate's highest-ranking Democrat, Minority Leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota. Republicans have 55 seats in the 100-seat chamber.

The Kerry campaign ``tried to emphasize his role as a Vietnam War hero and downplay his role as an anti-Vietnam War hero, which he was,'' said Soros. ``Had he admitted, owned up to it, I think actually the outcome could have been different.''

Alternative Needed

Soros said he also now questions ``what the Democratic party stands for.'' Democrats need to counter ``a very effective conservative message machine,'' he said. ``There really needs to be an alternative.''

Still, Soros said the money he spent was worthwhile, and that he will remain active in U.S. politics.

Much more at link..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My questions:
1) Did Soros say this before or after the dye was cast for the failed fillibuster yesterday?
2) Politically, where does he direct his billions and his influence now?
"Hmmm .. get Evan Bayh on the phone.."
