Good morning, all.

Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."

It's all over except the final vote tally.

Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?

I think Landrieu will be a 'yes.' She's going to need all the help she can get in Louisiana.

That's how I look at it too.

Does anyone have the transcript of DeMint's reponse to Reid's "prebuttal" from yesterday? I heard it was destined to be a classic ala Zell Miller.

She's on a Carl Sagan quest for 'billions and billions'.

Check with AliVeritas, I think he was going after it yesterday on another thread. Any running total of the vote?

Good news. Snowe was the last holdout on the R side.

If ALL 100 senators are in the chamber, why does it take them more than an hour to vote?

This vote will go quickly. I'm not sure why it was scheduled (negotiated) for 11:00, instead of earlier - I suppose just to give enough time for concise closing summaries.

Senator, do you consider your filibuster attempt a success?
