Good morning, all.

Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."

It's all over except the final vote tally.

Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?

"it's a shame he can't be sworn in today,"

I heard on Fox, that he will be sworn in today but that the more ceromonious swearing in is tomorrow.

After weeks of no DSL, no phone and then intermittent fixes, we've been back on line for a few days, catching up on all of the missed pings.

Now to catch up on this happy thread after yesterday's great thread on Kerry's Floppy-bluster.

Congratulations to Justice Alito and President Bush.

But this still doesn't mean he will be on the floor of the House for the speech tonight. Or does it?

I'll say a rosary for you tonight. You'll be fine.

BTW, Pope Benedict loves and prays for you.

The Catholic church is dying or dead in europe...that is the problem over there....religious institutions are more like museums instead of lifestyles. Thank God we still have faithful people on this side of the pond.

I've waited five years for a smackdown like this! Election night was good but it took to long, This was instant gratification! It is all that better that Kennedy and Kerry spent so much ammo and lost. I may not stop grinning for weeks!

OK, don't get crazy. Richard Nixon????? Come on. The best is Ronald Reagan.

You're right but Nixon deserves some credit. He hired very young, very smart people, among them George Bush, Bill Rehnquist, Cap Weinberger, Ed Meese, Don Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Pat Buchanan, and Robert Bork. Alito and Roberts can be traced back through Meese, Rehnquist and Bush back to Nixon. Not to mention Cheney, who I'm sure was an influence on these picks.

The libs all waited until the vote in favor was at least 51 to cast their "no" votes.

Pardon my french, but they are such spineless, intellectually vacant, grandstanding chickensh*ts.

Wonder where's the best place to send Justice Alito a congratulatory note?

I'm with you.

Don't tell my kids, but sometimes instant gratification is really good! Like in SCOTUS votes. LOL.

He was sworn in at the Supreme Court just minutes ago. No tv coverage allowed, but he is officially on the Court. Of course he will attend the SOTU speech! Tomorrow there will be a strictly ceremonial swearing in at the WH, is what I read. I'm sure it will be covered.

This is so cool.

My "moderate" acquaintances are glad it's all over. My Leftist acquaintances are ready to slit their wrists.
