Good morning, all.
Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."
It's all over except the final vote tally.
Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?
After this vote, up the kidnapped ones to 40 something.
Is this a Blurblogger original?

Last night a prayer thread was started for the President for his SOTU address. I'm sure it's still there. We all might want to visit for a moment and say a prayer for our President.
mega dittos, ken! great job!
More salt for the DUmmies' wounds---

There ya go kiddies. You've been Owned!
This is certainly my preferred way of looking at it. President Bush has shown himself several times to be far cannier than he appears.
you are just BRILLIANT!!!!!!!
Great link.. the DU's are imploding....I like the post where some DUmmy states he is going to write a note to the SWIMMER and Kerry to thank them for their leadership....If he wants the SWIMMER to read it...it better be on a cocktail napkin....WOO HOOO A GREAT DAY FOR AMERICA !!!!
Anything more hypocritical than Reid lamenting the fact that the President didn't appoint a hispanic to this Court.
.
As the senior member of the liberal wing, Stevens often controls the assignment of opinions in closely-decided cases. Still, his influence remains uncertain. Many observers point to his quirky and unconventional jurisprudence as a constraint on his ability to lead the Court. They argue that Stevens' individualistic personality keeps him permanently outside the mainstream of the Court and that he lacks the characteristics of a coalition-builder. Nevertheless, in light of the Court's close ideological split and Stevens remarkable intelligence and experience, it would be difficult to discount his role in determining the Court's direction.
Any word on why GWB hasn't nominated JRB already?
How embarrasing for those liberal Democrats who attempted a failed filibuster...

4. Well the powder was kept dry, even tho it's well past expiration date
Some Democrats will INSIST on keeping the powder dry until we have "extreme circumstances" - like the Second Coming.
He needs to leave the GOP...he's of no help to the party being to the left of several Democratic senators!
