Good Monday morning, fellow Freeper political junkies. One of the more ridiculous episodes of political theater is about to play itself out on the Senate floor, as the John Kerry-led democrats mount an exercise in political futility which will further expose their total irrelevance..So join us today, or drop in on occasion, for the festivities...
Where to start........?
I don't want to dignify anything the Dems do or say, by wasting time discussing it at great length, but here are a few points to ponder as you watch this farce unfold....
1. Leader's time: Frist, IMHO, needs to really let the Dems have it for this total waste of time. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, Reid has to say about his U-turn. He said on Friday that he was against the filibuster..now he supports it..his "word" is worthless.
2.Also, on FOX NEWS Sunday, yesterday, Chris Wallace got DNC Chair Dean to blurt out that any Dems who took $$$ from Abramoff may well be in trouble..Hello, Harry!!! And there was a thread here last night somewheres that Biden yesterday refused to comment on rumors that Reid would soon step down as minority leader..Perhaps the real news is that Biden was silent....but Harry might feel the need to address this to some extent.
(Note: perhaps someone can post links to these threads for those who missed them...thanks..)
The cloture vote is scheduled for 4:30 today, and the full floor vote on the nomination at 11:00am tomorrow.
3. It will be interesting to see which Dems speak today. If we give the leaders their time, that leaves about 6 hours of debate..(10:30-4:30)..half of which belongs to the Dems...so..who? Will Byrd ask for time to speak...I'd suggest that Frist give Byrd majority time if he wants it. Also, will the Senate stay in session after the cloture vote..as in morning business, to rant far into the night? Hmmm?
4. When the GOP senators speak, they need to really let the Dems have it...No need to defend Alito's credentials anymore; that argument has been successfully made to the American people..since this whole thing is a politcal attack on the President, the GOP response must and should be an equally passionate attack on the Dems and their moonbat wing. I fully expect that the GOP has coordiated and planned an effective strategery for their speaking time.
5. Since the Dems have finally umasked themselves, sayig that they are filibustering Alito because they do not agree with his expected decisions..they have openly made this a political debate, dropping all pretense otherwise. By doing so they are also telling the American people that they do not believe that the majority, has the right to govern..IOW, that election results don't mean anything to them...Pretty staggering, when you consider what that really says about the Democrats..
6. We need volunteers today to occasionally monitor the Dem websites...DU and their ilk....They should be in total meltdown today. And don't forget to check out National Review online's Blog Spot.."Bench Memos"..realtime commentary by some wonderful writers and pundits....
Lastly.......

Memorandum
To: Sens. Leahy, Kennedy, Kerry, Biden, Schumer, etal...
From: Samuel Alito
Gentlemen:
Over the last several weeks, I had had to sit mute while you have all shamefully done your worst by smearing and slandering my honor, integrity, and good name; to the extent that you have reduced my dear wife to tears on one occasion.
I will NOT dignify your descent into the political gutter, except to please remind you that after everything: every name and insult you have called me, after twelve noon tomorrow, January 31, 2006, you will please call me Mr. JUSTICE Alito.

To amuse ourselves while the Dems bloviate, I'm proposing a "filibuster limerick contest".....here's my modest offering.....
There once was a senator from Mass...
Who displayed an abysmal lack of class;
"From Davos I've come,
Because I'm really, really dumb,
Too stupid to give Alito a pass..."
LIVE THREAD PING!!!!
FYI...It's "show" time..
PING.....
Good morning, good morning!
Should be an interesting day. Let's get on with the vote. Thanks, Ken. Have you gotten your yard cleaned up?
Is it really so wrong to cruise around DU and hear from the Daily Kosmunists on days like this laughing hysterically at the rantings and ravings of the mentally ill?
Perhaps.
I enjoy it anyways.
Get out the cheese and crackers - I am sure they are going to supply the whine....
Hysterical.
Shrillary gave back the cash she got, but Charlie Rangel sure didn't.
Let the filibluster commence. Release the hounds! Let the pigeons loose!
FYI..and BTW.. I still owe you a freepmail..
Got the champagne on ice, but I'm not popping it till the vote tomorrow.
LOL. Love the title of the thread :)
> The cloture vote is scheduled for 4:30
Is there any way to capture all that gas from DummyRats from now till 4:30 to maybe provide for all of New York's energy needs for the next 30 days?
Let the kookery take flight! Off wit' ya! Auf Weidershen! Sayonara! Adios! Sieg Heil! Or-Chi-Chornya!
LOL, good one, ken. Thanks for the thread.
Have you & Cyborg considered one of those darling little "butterfly releases" for your wedding? For a mere $7 apiece, you can get real live butterflies in cunning little boxes, one for each guest, for them to set free after the reading of a particularly sappy poem.
(And then someone yells "Pull!" from the sidelines.)

Who is the biggest a$$..."
If they ever invent a car that runs on BS, they could round up all the DemocRATS and end our dependence on foreign oil.
