Jim Lehrer, on his NewsHour program on PBS on Friday night, ridiculed John Kerry for calling for filibuster from "the ski slopes." Click the link above for the entire transcript. Liberal Mark Shields and conservative columnist David Brooks both joined Lehrer for some Kerry bashing.
This exchange is making left-wing radicals furious, who are now calling Mark Shields a "Republican stooge" and a "Fox News Democrat." One leftist website had this to say to Mark Shields, long time CNN analyst:
"This is the most despicable performance in your long career of pretending to be a Democrat. If you love George Bush with such devotion, then go register as a Republican today. Better yet, pick up a gun and go fight his disastrous war in Iraq. And give your "Democratic" spot on PBS to a REAL Democrat - someone with the cojones to stand up to the Emperor Without Clothes and his mouthpiece, Jim Lehrer!"

<< I suspect you are rather demonstrably afraid of thought and merely like PBS because it coverage most fits your own personal prejudices.
Been my experience that anyone who has to boast of his ability to "Think" is actually rationalizing an inability to reason critically at all. Usually turns out the "thinker" merely assumes he is "thinking" because his fringe views are rejected by the vast majority.
Rather then THINK, "hmmm, why do 9 our of 10 people think I am an idiot?" - he assumes everyone ELSE is the idiot and he is "the great thinker".
Brickbats?
Hardly. No reason to use a sledgehammer to crack a peanut. >>
Yep - 'bout says it for me, too.
[Not, mind you, that the very many great thinkers not understood by 98 out of every 100 have ever been granted immunity to similar scorn to that you have described. It's not reserved for the kind of dill who shills for the likes of Lehrer. Rather, it eminates FROM them]
Re: PBS, NPR, taxation.
I work in public education, and yet advocate dismantling public education during work hours (as an economics prof, during class meetings).
At least SOME of your tax dollars are at work. :)
This exchange is making left-wing radicals furiousI went over to DU to read what they are writing and it gives me a headache. So much of what they "write" is in incomplete sentences and pronouns with ambiguous references that reading them is far more work than it's worth.
They are furious, all right. They are also incoherent.
thanks for that link
Oh. lovey, I used to think that too. After reading and watching here at FR for a few years, I realise they are brain dead. They are unable to think.
It is loony. It even happens on the right. When some right leaning journalist or analyst speaks against Bush or his policies, they get labeled some "leftist stooge".
John Kerry: Proving yet again, he can make an ass of himself on a ski slope.
Don't get too excited. Hillary don't stand a chance in hell of winning.
He's about as "conservative" as "Less-Than-Average" Joe Scarborough and Tucker "The Casterated Lesbian Rodeo Clown" Carlson.
Kerry loves to make that Commie red Kool-Aid with strips of baloney in it.
