From DiFi's office:

Senator Feinstein to Vote No on Cloture for the Nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today announced that she will vote no on cloture regarding the nomination of Judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr. to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.

“Based on a very long and thoughtful analysis of the record and transcript, which I tried to indicate in my floor statement yesterday, I’ve decided that I will vote no on cloture.”

"I know I saw that somewhere...and I was just laughing..but, I wonder if some of these dems are waiting for rigged up poll results."

The Times will probably produce a poll.

He had said earlier this week he would vote yes for Alito. Now apparently he's not sure.

P.S. Why is this breaking news? Difi's vote doesnt matter.. we only need 3 dems that voted against alito to vote yes for cloture. There are 7 that are against a filibuster and 11-15 that haven't made up there minds. They dont have the numbers. We will have close to 70 votes for cloture. BTW... Most of there offices close at 6:00pm... till Monday.. so the rats have about an hour to call and scream.

Exactly. I am not sure why people are getting all worked up. Kerry is playing the Koz Kidz and DUmmies like the fools they are. I like it because it will make the vote for Alito on Tuesday that much of a bigger victory for Bush. I think Kerry is on Rove's payroll.

With regard to the Times, there's no reason why a person who calls themselves conservative should buy this thing.

It goes way beyond not subscribing to the NYT. It's all the other smaller city newspapers, such as mine: San Antonio Express News, who use the NYT, WP & LAT as their national and international news sources, and throw the Associated Press into the mix as well. It's far more insidious than not buying a NYT newspaper. Just look at the source of every news article you read to see how bad it is in the print media.

I doubt it. Why do we suddenly believe what we read on the DU?

By the way, the DUers have been phoning Senators all week, and probably annoying the Hell out of most of them.

If we go nuclear on Monday just for the heck of it despite the cloture motion succeeding, it would be considered an abuse of power by the moderates.

Okay. I didn't think the individual was saying that Frist should go nuclear unless a filibuster was undertaken. I may have been mistaken.

At any rate, I very much doubt that Frist is going to even think about using a nuclear option unless the Dims start a filibuster.

I'm just a little sceptical of DU to get something right.

New Jersey is Liberal Dem, but once in a while they get fed up with it and vote contrarian.

Philadephia. right next to New Jersey. is the home of the Third Circuit where Alito serves, and Alito was born and raised in New Jersey. Therefore, Menendez would be voting against pretty much a homegrown, hometown boy.

But as much of a snake as he is, I don't think that would stop him. What good is it to get to the Senate, only to be ostracized and kept off of good committee assignments, etc., because you are a Dem voting for Alito?

I don't count on Menendez. I saw him operate in the House and thought he was despicable.

This is probably the only time that some hre on FR and Moveon.org would be in agreement on something...BRING ON THE NUKES! THEN WE'LL HAVE 3 years (and possibly many more) to STUFF the courts, baby!...And rightfully blame it on the Dems for starting the NUKE WAR in the first place.

Non of these Senators are part of the Gang of 14

It doesn't matter how Clinton, Dodd, Reid or Fienstein vote

He is.

With the exception of selective foreign policy stances, e.g. Israel, Castro, etc., he has almost no redeeming virtues.

The guy is a schmuck.

Perhaps not quite as bad as Lousenberg, or Toricelli, but it's only a difference of degree.
