Debate continues in the Senate today on the nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. At present no time has been announced for a final vote. Stop by and discuss.
Why doesn't Dole compare:
"Mr President, look at the people judging Mr. Alito. Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Byrd....need I go on?"
Reid sounds like he knows he doesn't have the votes to filibuster.
I knew Frist should have called for a cloture vote when they first started this debate...
I wish he could FORCE them to be there for 12 hours everyday until Alito gets his up/down vote!!!

Frist said they would debate on Saturday if need be.....I think you lost your mind, not me.

LOL. Nah. He's good to go. This isn't that big a deal, when viewed from a little distance. Stevens knows the nomination vote will move forward, and he doesn't need to say anything about it.
I wish these Senators would talk, not read.
Why do they keep getting to debate? I do not understand. We know how everyone is voting, so why does the debate continue?

It'd be kinda cool if Stevens & the other undeclared R's were deliberately keeping quiet to let Kerry get WAAAY out on that filibuster limb, then start sawing....slowly.
The only thing Reid is up to is waiting to see if they can get a filibuster. DUmmies are working the phone lines (and will be working them until the vote) to the Dem Senators (even the ones who said they will vote yes like Byrd). They are not giving up on the filibuster thinking they can change some Democrat's minds.
