American Idol homophobic?
According to entertainment and celebrity website TMZ.com, officials at the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) are fuming about the Fox show's attitude toward gay people.
GLAAD is mad about the acerbic comments that Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson made to contestants on the show's debut a few days ago.
"Shave off your beard and wear a dress," Cowell told one would-be contestant, while Jackson asked another male reject, "Are you a girl?".
GLAAD also notes that Ryan Seacrest and Cowell regularly exchange on-air insults, each implying that the other is gay.

The gong show rules. It was one of my two favorite shows of all time (the other being the "$1.98 beauty pageant" with Rip Torn)

The are you a boy or a girl question was right on target. That guy.girl was very hard to figure out. Also, the show lumps the girl and guy contestants separately to have the same number of each in the final group.
Plus we were all thinking the same thing at home.

Suggestion keep your mouth shut and no one will shove anything down it.
Part two. Disconnect the TV, pull the shades, and stay home.

To: latina4dubya
I don't know if he is either. But he just seems very effeminate to me.

The net result of all this hoopla by these heterophobic groups will be to
increase ratings for American Idol, which are already through the roof. But anything to take on Fox, which is their true agenda.
Aside from that, the competition is initially divided into male and female categories, and the judges have the right to make a proper determination [i.e. judgement] on the placement of a contestant, just as they do on the suitlability of respective talents, or lack thereof.
To: absolootezer0
Well, sort of. It really is about the talent, but Simon makes it much more fun and interesting.
Usually, I find him funny, but I thought that comment was on the side of rude. (still funny though, he, he). I just felt bad for the guy, he couldn't even speak after Simon said that.

Great pun, but Reginald Dwight (AKA Elton John) was an androgynous "gender bender" for years he not openly gay until recently. Remember that he was even married to Kiki Dee for a brief time.
To: Natural Law
Well...he always pined for Bernie Taupin..from the beginning.
To: dfwgator
Can't be. He dresses absolutely horribly.

GLAAD also notes that Ryan Seacrest and Cowell regularly exchange on-air insults, each implying that the other is gay. Yes by golly it IS an insult.
