If JimRob, etc. approve this is the Live Thread for the Canadian General Election, on January 23rd, 2005.
We have a while to go before the returns start coming in, but I thought the thread needed to get up and running.
C up 4 seats (11 of 32)
Try the radio feed link in #513.
+4 seats puts the Conservatives in democraticSPACE territory - 128 seats, if the rest of Canada follows.
Hard to tell, sorry.

Yeah, think democraticspace.com bang on so far.
In '94 the GOP picked up traditionally Dem districts in states like Kentucky. Do the pick ups in NFLD presage good things countrywide?

Thanks bb!!

C up 4 seats.
It's hard to extrapolate from Atlantic Canada. Getting the NDP vote in strongholds like Halifax and the Conservative vote in areas like Avalon and St. Johns would help us see whether the conservatives improved in Conservative ridings and Dippers in NDP ridings.
It sounds like Avalon went better than the polls expected.
Thank you.
:-)
Believe democraticspace has called 11 of 11.
If that's true, that's GREAT news!
From my read, the wild card will be suburban Toronto and Quebec. If the Tories pick up seats here couldn't they get a majority?
Don't think a majority is in the cards, based on these results. However, have to wait until at least 9:30 to be sure.
Captain's Quarters live blog is finally up- no info yet:

I predict that as soon as the polls open, CNN will announce that they have declared the liberals the winner in the hope that conservatives will decide not to bother to vote!
