If JimRob, etc. approve this is the Live Thread for the Canadian General Election, on January 23rd, 2005.
We have a while to go before the returns start coming in, but I thought the thread needed to get up and running.
liberals still ahead in the popular vote reported so far, interestingly enough
The CSPAN announcer cautioned that a lot of the Ridings are separated by very few votes. Many by as little as 10 votes. Heavens knows that in Chicago, an early vote like that wouldn't hold up for long. :(
137 seats still not in nearly all of praries, Alberta, BC and Territories. Outlying Ontario and others still in play for remainder.
1. Alberta+ Praries = at least 40-45 seats out of 56
2. BC -NDP and libs allow 35 seats for PC
3. 145 looks like baseline expectations. Pretty close
woohoo!
I'm watching CBC any other network with better coverage?
:D
Am I the only Bloc Quebecois supporter here?
You'll see a huge jump in the "C" column when Alberta starts reporting. Alberta was 26-2 (Conservative over Liberal) going into this election, and anything less than a 28-0 sweep will be a disappointment.
if it's anything like chicago, you have to see if the cemetary precincts have reported yet ;)
That sounds like a good trend.
My friend just sent me this story:
Party with the most seats doesn't necessarily form government

Probably from urban centers.

I honestly hope the Bloc and NDP go up at Liberal expense...
