He didn't know that for sure though. But he believed, and he had faith, and he had the courage of his convictions. I don't know if it's from listening to Michael, or reading, or documentaries, but I recently got an insight into the White House at the time and it reminded me that when you're in there you don't know for sure that action A is going to produce reaction B, you have to go for it, make your move.

It will if they hang a urinal on the end of the casket.
"an occasion on which Mr. Reagan threw out the day's ceremonial first pitch and did a charming inning and a half of play-by-play, returning to his real roots as a Chicago Cubs broadcaster"
I'd love to hear this. Anybody got a clue if it is available?
Welcome!

I've been trying to find a recording of that broadcast myself, among others. (My forages into ancient radio recordings---I now have a library of about 250 vintage radio shows---include a late-1940s broadcast of Dizzy Dean telling stories about Yankee great Lefty Gomez, and a 1934 radio broadcast of a game between the Yankees and the Detroit Tigers, with Ty Tyson of WWJ doing the play-by-play, but I haven't yet been able to nail any recordings of Mr. Reagan doing baseball announcing. It would have been a wonderful gift to history, too, if someone had thought to record his legendary improvisation on when the telegraph went on the fritz and he managed to have a Cub hitter just about setting the record for fouling off two-strike pitches, until the 'graph was fixed, the wire item came in, and Reagan had to announce, sheepishly, "Jurgen popped out on the first pitch!")
check with Simi Valley - they're doing a world-class job there
Without Ronald Reagan, Eastern Europe would still be under the yoke of Communist Tyranny.
I've been with Lucianne.com for years, but have become disillusioned because of the restrictions. Are there many others from Lucianne at this site?
I will post my story on my homepage here. This post alone has made the switch to FR inevitable. Thanks.
While I detest any lite beer, I do like bud. But I would also, finally, have a good use for the four cans of Billy Beer I still own.
Same timeframe:

I think quite a few...I don't know the details, but I get the impression Lucianne "has it in" for Free Republic.
Thanks for bringing a tear to my eye and a smile to my lips. Ronnie was a giant among dwarves - always will be.
Reminds me of the joke that ends with:
"Will you pour a quart of fine Irish whiskey over me grave?"
"Sure, but it seems such a waste - do you mind if I pass it through me kidneys first?..."
