"Reagan was a man who could put chills down your spine every time he spoke"
Well said. Even reading his words here has put me in chills the entire time! I have a feeling this is going to become one of our longest, and most treasured, threads. There is no end to the incredible wisdom that Ronald Reagan possessed and he was blessed with the gift of being able to express it so beautifully.
I'm sure someone can post the part of President Reagan's speech at Normandy "...these are the boys of Pont du Hoc..." and the exact phrasing of where do we find these men?
I hope this will lure a certain lurker friend of mine to become a Freeper and post his favorite! (You know who you are!)
Yes they are!
We've done our part. And as I walk off into the city streets, a final word to the men and women of the Reagan revolution, the men and women across America who for 8 years did the work that brought America back. My friends: We did it. We weren't just marking time. We made a difference. We made the city stronger, we made the city freer, and we left her in good hands. All in all, not bad, not bad at all.
Farewell Address to the Nation, January 20th, 1989.
Done. I only buy about two books of stamps per year, but I would buy a lifetime supply if the did a reissue.
Thanks for posting that!
Thanks for posting this as I take the tissue and wipe the tears from my eyes.
I miss this man. May he rest in peace.
Worth repeating for any DUmmy lurkers.
Thank you!
I remember watching that speech live on TV and never forgot it.
If you ever get to southern California head for Simi Valley and visit the Reagan Library -- its an awesome place. Reagan Library web site I remember being astounded by the correspondence he carried on - in hand written notes - with Gorbachev. He didn't mince words!
Here's my strategy on the Cold War: We win, they lose."
- Ronald Reagan
The same applies to the war on terrorists. We win, they lose. Of course the Democrats don't understand this concept, anymore than they understood the "Evil Empire" (USSR). With the Democrats, America is always wrong and the enemy must be right. No wonder it's called the Jackass Party.
I just picked up sheet of the .37's while they were still available.
Thanks to the Internet and Jim Robinson, that job will be much easier. We are no longer controlled by the publishers, TV Networks, and liberal academia. The truth is out there for everyone to see.
Thanks for being part of FR and doing your part.
Sounds like a great bumper sticker to me. Except that it would no doubt cause a huge rise in rear-end collisions!
"Approximately 80% of our air pollution stems from hydrocarbons released by vegetation, so let's not go overboard in setting and enforcing tough emission standards from man-made sources." [I think this is the "trees" quote everyone is thinking of]
"All the waste in a year from a nuclear power plant can be stored under a desk."
"Before I refuse to take your questions, I have an opening statement."
You're welcome. I love it.
I'm with you there. I've read and heard a lot, but to remember it myself - ah, that would be grand.
Too right we do
