Now its a $150 per ticket for a big-name band. We use to see shows for $10. And the music WAS the thing and always will be to guys like us.

On all the stuff I sent you, the songs are listed on the inside cover of the case, except for the "filler" songs that were not included in the original CD. Those songs are taped to the back cover. I spent some time cutting those suckers out after I copied the covers on my color copy machine. But it makes it easy to see what songs are on the CD.

The other singer was Signe Anderson and she had a more powerful and melodic voice than Grace. She quit the group to become a full time wife and mom up in Oregon.I know she had come down with breast cancer a number of years ago but not sure what she's doing now.

10 years ago, I worked with these two middle aged women, who, I learned by accident, were absolutely crazy about Willie; had, or had heard all of his solo albums, seen his sorry junkie ass in concert several times and so on. Strange, until you showed here, they were the only people I had known who had ever heard of this band and this guy. Didn't he put out another solo album just recently?

Thats what I am saying...studio stuff is quite timid, live is so much better.
Thats why I collect and use to record live shows....a really good band live is mind blowing.
Most bands play the same set, over and over-- note for note, cookie cutter....yawn.
My favorite bands never did that.
NRBQ NEVER played the same set twice, never used a "set list", they were truly remarkable...no band in the history of music will EVER approach what they did.
No one knows them , so I know that statement means very little.
Bob is great because he changes the arrangements of the songs...I love it, some people don't like that.
Van Morrison is also one of my favorites and still is performing outstanding shows....I have tons of live shows of Van.

Paid $6.50 to see Jefferson Airplane. I'm a little fuzzy on the exact year, only sure it was before '70.

By the time prices were getting over $10, a lot of the music was heading south anyway.

TEN dollars for a show?
Hell,I saw Jefferson Airplane,Muddy Waters AND the Grateful Dead for the grand total of THREE dollars at Winterland in 1966.Two sets each.
I really grumbled when I had to pay the trememdous sum of EIGHT dollars for The Stones at Winterland in 1972.The opening act was Stevie Wonder!

On the www.dinovalenti.com website, they have posters of concerts Quicksilver was in. One show had the Dead, the Airplane and Quicksilver for...$3. Pretty amazing!

From this list I choose Hendrix. I'd rather see a list for best acoustic guitar, though, so Steve Howe from Yes could win something.

I saw Stevie Wonder open for the Stones in 1972 also, at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh. Billy Preston was playing keyboard with the Stones and I think Klaus Voorman was on horns. Can't remember the price, think it was about $12.

After WW2 a whole generation grew up influenced by American blues. And, for me, many of the great guitarists from there are/were solidly blues infuenced. Kim Simmonds, Alvin Lee, Clapton (he lost me when he abandoned the blues and got "laid back").

Quicksilver, in the liner notes from the "Anthology" double album, says that they never played a song the same way twice live. Said it "ruined the song".

I agree...I'll check them out. A truly "good" band does just that. Every performance is a new, fresh, interesting adventure....

And really unknown to many people today. They don't know what they missed, but I'm trying to educate some of them and I'll bet you are too.

Same here. Is there rock music anymore? I've despised popular music for many years now, except maybe the Talking Heads. "Psycho killer Qu’est que c’est"

More powerful than Grace Slick? Wow. More melodic,I can believe. Grace could carry a tune, but her style seemed to be "juggernaut".
