I agree - I like Hendrix a lot but I think the Stevie remake of Little Wing is better!!!! I saw Lynrd Skynrd 3 years ago - not bad considering they weren't the real band.
Great song. One of the most soothing tunes you'll ever hear on a "rock & roll" radio station.
I can't rave about this service enough.
I did lots of research on it before diving in and I haven't found a thing to stop me from using it.
Those are just the highlights. There is a free download of an offline Explorer application which requires about 30 seconds to learn to use.
I started my account with a $10 amount and I have been downloading tons of stuff. In reality I believe I have downloaded about 50 songs and my account is at about $4.
I found the entire J.Geils album "Love Stinks", downloaded all 17 songs and it cost me $1.40 for all the files in 128 Kb/sec bitrate. You can get up to 320 kb/sec but it costs about twice as much (big deal).
The price is so low because, I am told, of the exchange rate between USD and Rubels. In Moscow, the service costs folks about the same as iTunes costs us. But we here in the US get more bang for our buck.
It is legal. The RIAA has tried to sue them, enjoin them from operating and they petitioned the Russian authorities to shut them down.
The Russian authorities recently finished a lengthy investigation and finally told the RIAA...tough luck. No Russian laws are being broken, Allof MP3.com has a deal with major Euro record labels and...over there, according to their laws...the MP3 file format is not subject to the same intellectual property constraints as other media types.
This is all I can recall from memory. The upshot is...they've been around since 2001, no one yet that I can find any report of, has been subject to any hanky panky with regard to their credit card accounts and it is legal and has withstood several legal challenges.
I say, go for it. Try it out for 10 bucks, download the Explorer software and if you don't like it...dump it after you've spent you 10 bucks. I'm going to be a member for a log time. I've found some really obscure music that I thought I'd never find..."One Piece at a Time" by Johnny Cash...the live version of the album "Journey to The Centre of The Earth" by Rick Wakeman...the album "Guitarded" by Leslie West...the list goes on. I have the albums somewhere and didn't think I'd ever be able to listen to good copies ever again but now I have it in digital format.
I think I'll stop raving now. I'm sure some here will step in to poo poo the website or refute my claims...but it won't dissuade me.
I happen to have a weak spot for the slide guitar...

That Austin City Limits show with EJ years ago is what got it started for me. I was never so awestruck as I was watching that.

Sorry don't know that one. If you like Paco de Lucia, another awesome guitarist is Vicente Amigo. His track "El Mandaito" on Vivencias Imaginadas is just sterling.

I'll look for it and listen. What music category is it? I sometimes have a hard time distinguishing between some jazz,jazz fusion,classical guitar,etc. I'm trying to learn:)
I saw EJ in Nashville in '89, and it blew my mind. Get the live CD from Austin... it is his strongest playing on tape that a sound/roadie guy doesn't have.
I agree - those are 2 on HIS long list of great ones!!! My wife took me to a Neil Young concert while we were dating. I liked him before and liked him A LOT afterwards. We've seen him solo and w/Crazy Horse 5 times in the past 22 years.

Hehe.. you are one of the rare people I have seen give Jeffrey credit for the Donna Summer guitar solo~ Not many people know that one. I wouldn't say it was his very best work- it was a disco tune- so where can one really go with that. *cool*
