Spain rebuffed Washington's appeal to refuse military sales to Venezuela, saying Friday it will sell the South American nation military boats and jets.
The United States has refused to grant a re-export license for the U.S. components of the Spanish aircraft and patrol boats that make up a proposed $2 billion deal, the Financial Times reported. In addition, the United States has asked Spain not to supply Caracas with arms.
But late Friday Spanish state radio quoted Defense Ministry sources in Madrid as saying the big military deal would go ahead and substitute technology would come from European sources.

This is the second time Spain stabbed us in the back (the first being when they appeased Al Queda and pulled out of Iraq). Screw em.

Its no surprise to find that the yellowbellies are back stabbers. The two things always go together.

Perhaps we should start arming the Muslem populas in Spain and see how Spain likes us medling in their back yard. Spain is where Javiar Saldona came from.

Well, if they go through with substituting the technology in question, then they'd be squarely complying with their obligations. In such a case, "stabbing in the back" would not be appropriate terminology.

Why do all these EU countries even make weapons? They sell most of them to countries that hate them. It's funny too that they are always to afraid to use the weapons they make. I guess they just want to be sure they die by their own weapons.
To: Paul_Denton
The next news article about this should read, "US intercepts Spanish weapons bound for Venezuela (submits bill to Spain)".
Any thought on the likelihood of this actually happening, though?

These must be surplus firearms that their military no longer needs since al-Quaeda de-nutted them. Hey Spain, bend over and take it like a man. Hopefully, Harry Belafonte will probably use one to shoot himself in the other foot.

We can only hope Chavez blows up something Spain cares about. This is appalling, short-sighted and stupid.

I knew that Spain was a nation of wusses when they elected a leftist government in response to the train bombings. That sort of thing would make us mad; the Spanish people, on the other hand, are hoping that the crocodile will eat them last.

Spain is a anti-american socialist craphole. Their military equipment would be target practice if real hosilities broke out with old communist Hugo. Thanks spain you POS. The US doesnt forget who screws us over.
