He wrote a letter to Ariel Sharon's son. In part, he said: "My zeal, my love of Israel, and my concern for the future safety of your nation led me to make remarks which I can now view in retrospect as inappropriate and insensitive in light of a national grief experienced because of your father's illness. I ask your forgiveness and the forgiveness of the people of Israel for saying what was clearly insensitive at the time." That's an understatement.
Pat Robertson to Israel: "Me so sorry. Now show me the money!"
Pat Robertson lives in a Cave.
Still sticking to his statement I see. Only apologizing for the timing of it.
I like Pat. He's a good guy, and far from a "dumb ass." But, he really should know that he is in the media crosshairs now, and has been since 1988.
Every word he speaks is scrutinized by the MSM to see if they can squeeze some "look how extreme these rightwing nutjobs are" mileage out of it. Context is irrelevent.
That this is a "story" shows the desperation of the MSM.
Pat Robertson should move into a cave...and stay there.
My word, he is such a putz.
The agenda is clear: to paint every Republican and conservative as a right-wing extremist nutcase.
Won't argue with that but, in Pat Robertson's case and IMO, he is a nutcase.
Operation Blessing, Christian Coalition and all the good things that he has done notwithstanding--perhaps it is time to get off the stage.
Boortz is correct, but there more importantly is the agenda to use Robertson or Falwell's occasional faux pax to broad-brush every Christian as a "right-wing nut case."
Opponent and allies alike in taking this bait contributes to undermining socially conservative issues.
The whole thing sounds like an episode from South Park to me.
I wonder if he was crying for a camera when he wrote it?
The media is becoming quite predictable? Pat Robertson is becoming quite predictable. The media simply reports what he says. That he has soooo many followers tars everybody else.
Somone needs to buy him out and pull his plug.
Should read, "Pat Robertson, who every so often says something really, really stupid because, well, he doesn't know any better..."
If I was on a long drive with my parents, and saw that on a roadside-attraction billboard, the unanimous outcry from us kids would be "Keep driving, Dad!"
Here's my take on Pat Robertson. He comes out with these outrageous statements (at least by our contemporary standards) in order to keep the public dialogue as broad based as possible. It provides work for the MSM and libs, and keeps more moderate thought from becoming labeled the new right wing extreme.
That's not backing down exactly. He owed that to the Sharon family. And he is right, it was insensitive and inappropriate, but that doesn't make it untrue, and he didn't say it was untrue. He could have just taken a golden opportunity to keep his mouth closed.
Money talks, eh Pat?
So why does Robertson help them out by being a right-wing extremist nutcase?
Everything that happens in the world is G-D's will. Whether it is good or bad it has been approved by the Almighty.
