PAT ROBERTSON CAVES
Nealz Nuze ^ | 1/13/2005 | Neal Boortz

Posted on 01/13/2006 6:36:42 AM PST by rattrap

Pat Robertson, who every so often says something really outrageous just to get attention, has apologized for saying Ariel Sharon's stroke was God's retribution for giving up the Gaza strip. He wrote a letter to Ariel Sharon's son. In part, he said: "My zeal, my love of Israel, and my concern for the future safety of your nation led me to make remarks which I can now view in retrospect as inappropriate and insensitive in light of a national grief experienced because of your father's illness. I ask your forgiveness and the forgiveness of the people of Israel for saying what was clearly insensitive at the time." That's an understatement.

But the real story here is how much attention is paid to Pat Robertson when he says the things that he does. The agenda is clear: to paint every Republican and conservative as a right-wing extremist nutcase. So now Pat Robertson has apologized...and he'll go back to his TV show. Sometime down the line he'll say something outrageous, and it will be the top story on CNN again.

The media really is becoming quite predictable.

The whole thing sounds like an episode from South Park to me.

>BTW, he has done more for good for the conservative movement than you [Freeper rattrap] will do in 1000 lifetimes

Well, Freeper rattrap
doesn't make conservatives
and Christians look nuts

once or twice a year.
Beyond that, it's always bad
to make assumptions

about Freepers and
who they are and what they do.
You just never know . . .

I wonder if he was crying for a camera when he wrote it?

And to chime in with Skooz:

He's done more for Christianity than you ever have too. With attitudes like yours you invite God to scrutinize your life as well.

So, how can we gently suggest to Pat to keep his damn mouth shut!! This gut should be put out to pasture.

Boortz is correct, but there more importantly is the agenda to use Robertson or Falwell's occasional faux pax to broad-brush every Christian as a "right-wing nut case."

Occasional? Robertson is spitting these doozies out about once a month.

If Robertson didn't provide the ammunition, there would be nothing to shoot at.

Pat embarrasses Pat. Pat is/was/will be a spokesman for religious conservatives for as long as he speaks. He is a media darling because he is so stereotypically wacky. They can use Pat's embarrassment to discredit/humiliate/neutralize all (either) religious folks or conservatives, depending where they can get the most negative mileage.

Well then I'll make sure not to condemn (in God's name) the leader of country where I'm going to put my next themepark.

The media is becoming quite predictable? Pat Robertson is becoming quite predictable. The media simply reports what he says. That he has soooo many followers tars everybody else.

Somone needs to buy him out and pull his plug.

It's not funny and your sarcasm only will bring further condemnation upon you.

Should read, "Pat Robertson, who every so often says something really, really stupid because, well, he doesn't know any better..."

Thanks but my condemnation is no business of yours, or anyone else's for that matter. It's between me and one other and I belive he had something to say about those who try to make that descision for him.

It is my job to warn you and your hardness of heart is only tempting God. You are in for an eye-opening experience.

Assassinating Chavez, telling the residents of Dover, Pa. that they would likely be visited by some calamity for ousting an ID-favorable school board, blaming gays for hurricanes, blaming gays for 9/11, screaming at Bush for easing Charles Taylor out of Liberia (it was Robertson's diamond investments that motivated that outburst).

I agree with Skooz on this one. No one likes fire and brimstone preachers, but I don't see how Pat's reminding us of the words of scripture makes him a nutjob. The real problem lies with those who see his statement in purely reductionist terms as just a hypocritical way of making a personal attack on Sharon.

Is THAT all?? Sheeesh, the guy's been on TV for 25 years and it's NO secret Robertson's political.

But even so -- do the relatively few times he's been wrong (not exactly "once a month," and of course the Pope's not made any faux pax), undo all the good his organization's done? The charity? Spreading the "Good News"?

At least he didn't kiss the Koran.

At least he didn't kiss the Koran.

Let's look at the two men: John Paul II, who sought to bring disparate religions and peoples together.

Pat Robertson: one of the most divisive figures on the stage, and that's just in the United States.

Think there'll be three million people at Robertson's send-off?
