The Orca is now touting his love for "diversity."

I wonder if that's what led him to join the Owl Club.

Kennedy is losing his train of thought *L*

He can't lose what he's never had.

I get the feeling most of the NAACP witnesses against Alito are nothing more than Dimocrat plantation hacks.

I believe they may have read some of his writings and are aware of some of his decisions, but I think they may have been those handed to them by the DIMs.

```Let me get this straight, the testimony of former law clerks, Solicitors General of the United States, distinguished appellate judges, and widely-admired litigators-many of whom disagree with Judge Alito's philosophy-is supposed to be cavalierly dismissed, while the pro forma denunciation of Judge Alito by people whose grasp of the law can be described as tenuous-and that's being generous-and who belong to partisan Dem. organizations, e.g. the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the National Bar Association, The House Dem. Caucus, etc., is supposed to treated seriously?
```

Finally! Your indoctrination is complete! You get it.

Latest from Scotusblog
12:55 Kennedy asks Shaw and Turner to comment on Riley v. Turner, which had to do with statistical evidence in jury bias cases.

Shaw: Jury selection bias is a hugely important issue to the Fund, which has been litigating such cases since its begining. Alito's decision in that case trivialized the extent of the problem. Philadelphia has had recent severe problems in this area.

Turner: Justice O'Connor understands that race still matters in this country, particularly in courts and jury selection. Jury bias strikes at the heart of fundamental justice in our society. Alito minimizes, if not completely disregards, those principles.

12:53 Specter asks the clerks if Alito favors the powerful:

They say he doesn't have any predisposition. He has ruled in favor of both the government and the little guy.

12:51 Specter asks Schultz whether if Alito is rejected, the replacement will be better in her view.

A: Americans have a right to expect that the President won't nominate an extremist.

12:50 Specter asks Reginald Turner whether he is swayed by testimony of judge Lewis or Mr. White's about Alito's fairmindedness.

A: He recognizes that Alito has had collegial relationships. But Turner's opposition is based on the record, that shows a tendancy of ruling against minorities and women and in favor of businesses and the government.

12:48 Specter asks Mr. White on his sense of Alito's views on equality of opportunity for African Americans.

A: he worked on cases with Alito on a number of race-based civil rights cases. Alito came to the cases with an open mind and fairness.

In Stalinist Soviet Union, yes, he would be considered an extremeist....

I would certainly be in trouble. So would you. Oh, yuk, Wasserman thinks we need an O'Connor clone.

If we have to drink every time they talk about race or abortion, I'll be too drunk before lunch.

And my only hope is that among the many millions of democrats in this country who are so honestly, and not left-wingers, they will see how democrats dismiss other democrats who say anything nice about a republican, and reconsider their allegiance to a party that will trash their own supporters for speaking their own mind.

Teddy's train of thought, such as it is, was shunted off onto an abandoned siding in a disused industrial district many years ago.

Thanks, I saw that up-thread. I wonder at what other time a US House rep has testified on a panel like this.

One who DID NOT work with or personally know the nominee.
