Day 3: Questioning Continues
This morning, Round 1 concludes with Senators on the Judiciary Cmte. who did not question nominee Alito yesterday. During Round 2, questioning is limited to 20 minutes for each of the eight- een senators. Chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA) leads off, followed by the others, alternating by party in order of seniority.

Up close and personal surely.
EXACTLY! Has to go take a nip in between. It's really quite sad.
Hatch - he did the same today.
Kennedy is using very weak ammo--hope it blows up in his face!
I see Kennedy, Schumer, Durbin, DiFi, Leahy, Kohl and Feingold and I think of Slytherin

FOX News legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano said not only are Democrats misrepresenting Alito, they are misrepresenting the CAP.
"It lobbied that as co-education flourished, the member of males would not be decreased. I have no recollection of Sam being a member of the organization or involved in any way and I was on the board for seven or eight years in the late '70s and early '80s," Napolitano said.
"The Democrats are painting CAP with a brush that it doesn't deserve. Its principle thirst in the late 70s and early 80s, in addition to maintaining the number of male undergraduates, was to make sure that ROTC stayed on campus. Sam and I were classmates. In our senior year, as members of ROTC, we had to leave Princeton and go to a state school because radicals at Princeton had firebombed the ROTC offices and rather than building little new offices, the university just let the military leave and stay off campus," Napolitano added.
Ironic, isnt' it!
HE'S accusing Alito of being too liberal? Kicking the ROTC off campus? ROFL!
Trust me, you do not want to see this man(?) on a plasma tv. It truly does look like his head could spatter in many directions.
I'm out here in Mountain Time, so was able to listen on satellite radio for an hour while I was driving out of town. Now I'm trapped myself while working and can't watch or listen right now either... depending on these quick moments of checking this thread.
Another great moment was Brownback's litany of quotations from liberal legal scholars showing that they fully recognize that Roe v. Wade is NOT the "settled law of the land."
Alito has been truly amazing in how carefully he is navigating the minefield of the questioning. His command of the case law and statutory law is so far above that of the Senators questioning him that it isn't even funny.
He takes a loaded, emotional question by a Democrat (or even by a Republican, for that matter), and answers it with detailed (but not obscure) fact and clear and easy to follow legal reasoning. His performance, in my opinion, is far out-doing Roberts. He's just not as telegenic or affable, but he grows on you. I think he's even growing on the Dems in spite of themselves, and it's driving them crazy.
Back to work.
OOH!
He mentioned it in passing.
Couldn't let that opportunity slip by Tubby, could ya?
lol
Rational people think that 12 years is W-a-a-a-y beyond an "initial" period.
Thinking of South Park movie
LOL! Kennedy is Lucius Malfoy. DiFi can be Kreacher the house elf.
that might start a chain reaction and it could get ugly.
The big problem is that these senators depend on incompetent, ignorant staff who, themselves, are vying for "top dog" status with the senator. Pathetic how stupid they all really are.
oh... yeah.. don't say plasma in the same sentence as you mention that image.
Great postk, thank you Agrarian!
I am hearing from those who can watch that he is surpassing Roberts (who set the bar pretty high)
