Day 3: Questioning Continues
This morning, Round 1 concludes with Senators on the Judiciary Cmte. who did not question nominee Alito yesterday. During Round 2, questioning is limited to 20 minutes for each of the eight- een senators. Chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA) leads off, followed by the others, alternating by party in order of seniority.
WEDS., 9:30AM ET, C-SPAN
Go figure. Mike Dewine (my senator), usually known for his leftist voting record, actually asked a real question and waited for a real answer.
How novel.
Wondering what? I'm not following but I'm multi tasking with laundry and trying to help Mr P with something.
I did not see it but I wonder if Biden wearing a baseball CAP was a way to insult the judge because of his being a member of CAP
What can they do to Kennedy for holding up the hearings on an irrelevant basis (like more time to review Rusher's documents)?
I think Specter was saying their schedule puts them in the gym at the same time, so the Swimmer would know where he could find Specter if he needed to discuss something with him.
The Jerry Springer Show has higher standards.
Take away his "water" lol
Execute him
He's actually been pretty good during the hearings. Surprisingly enough so has my senator, Lindsey Graham, though he was making me nervous yesterday.
I saw it, and yes, he was insulting Princeton, Judge Alito, and the entire faculty and student body, as well as alumni.
Other than that, he was just making a fashion statement.

Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., and his wife, Vicki, scored high marks again this year at their traditional off-the-record holiday party for friends and staff Monday evening in the Dirksen Senate Office Building. Each year the senator and his wife surprise guests when they arrive in costume and perform a topical dialogue scripted by longtime aide Kerry Parker. Kennedy, dressed as a furry King Kong, explained that he was late because he was on a phone call with President Bush. Vicki, dressed in a curly blond wig as Ann Darrow - immortalized by Fay Wray and now played by Naomi Watts - asked Kong if the president called him. "No." Did you call the president? "No. He's on top of every call," of course referring to the recent National Security Agency wire-tapping story. No Republican was off limits, from Karl Rove and Dick Cheney to Tom DeLay and House Speaker Dennis Hastert.
A healthy tumble down
Kennedy did a very funny routine spoofing our health care system: When falling from the top of the Empire State Building, he said, you'd better call and get your half-tablet of generic aspirin before you reach the 34th floor, and fill out the form for the HMO before you hit bottom.
Falling for beauty and the beast
The couple sang special lyrics - "Falling Polls" to the tune of "Falling Snow." Spotted among the guests: the junior senator from Massachusetts, John Kerry, hanging near the door long enough to wave when Kennedy said how patient the Massachusetts House delegation has been and that there might be an open Senate seat in their state in three years when Kerry moves to the White House. Other present and former Kennedy aides joining the celebration: Melody Miller, Jim Flug, Mary Beth Cahill, C-SPAN's Steve Scully and Williams & Connolly power attorney Greg Craig, who has represented high-profile clients such as Kofi Annan, Bill Clinton, publisher Conrad Black and Elian Gonzalez. Mrs. Kennedy told me that neither she nor the senator had seen the new "King Kong" film.
"The Jerry Springer Show has higher standards."
Please do not equate those fine Senate Democrats with Jerry Spring - it is insulting to Jerry Springer! LOL
A comedy or a train wreck? It occurs to me that the rats were much sharper back in the Thomas hearing and I wonder; is it that for the rats it's mostly the same old motley crew and they're far into their dotage or do I just "misremember" the Thomas hearing?
I have noticed Alito has no notes, which says quite a lot considering his 15 years of rulings on the 3rd Circuit. Just as impressive as Roberts, if you ask me. He has more experience than Roberts too. I think having been a federal prosecutor is a big plus.
Should I puke now or later?
He sure looks Red.
Yeah, especially those California girls.
now
Isn't there a rumor that Jerry Springer is going to be running as a Dem for Congress?? If he was on their side, he might bring some much needed gravitas!
Kennedy went as King Kong? Doesn't he know that fur makes you look fat?
