Alito Hearings Set to Begin
Today the multi-day confirmation hearings for Samuel Alito begin. They are expected to last all week, possibly into Saturday. First up will be a series of opening statements by the eighteen members of the Senate Judiciary Cmte. After that comes the introduction of Samuel Alito and his opening statement.

Yesterday, Shumer was on Meet the Press. Within the same breath, Shumer used the word 'extreme' twice in talking about Alito.
Shumer is trying to set up the 'extreme' litmus test the whacky-14 agreed on for other judicial nominations.
Alito being seated now. Looks happy and pretty relaxed.

Just finished the introductions of his family- his wife and mother-in-law are both librarians- his kids are in high-school and college..nice looking family.
I love the introduction of the family. It puts such a human face on the person the Dems try to demonize.
I can't imagine being a family member sitting there when my loved one is being attacked.
Just getting warmed up....hope the swimmer or leaky or doll hair don't scare him too much
Specter looks pretty good,not as sick looking as he was before.
His hair is growing in nicely.
It disgusts me that these turds get to bloviate for 4 hours before Alito's statement.
