I thought we were in favor of free speech. I guess that applies only to people we agree with.

Who is denying anyone free speech?

No one is as ignorant of the constitution as you pretend to be.

I thought we were in favor of free speech.Of course, and freedom of speech includes the right to send letters to TV stations.

They have the to show what they want, we have the right not to watch it and inform their sponsors that to be associated with a show like this will cost them our business.
There is nothing wrong with that.
This has nothing to do with free speech.

"Free speech", by which I take to mean the Constitutional guarantee of same, applies only to Governmental involvement. The Government saying to NBC, "you cannot market nor air this show" would fall under such a concern. Private citizens using their own initiative to make their opinions known to both the network and any potential advertisers are in fact exercising
their right to "free speech."

Noboby is denying them of their right to free speech. We are voicing our right to free speech by objecting to it and refusing to endorse it.

They are welcome to put it on TV. They are just cutting out a very high percentage of the viewing audience. How come the networks and the OM news shows never talk about the lack of freedom of speech for conservatives? Even FOX (accused of being a conservative cable news network)gives more air time to the lefties just to show that they are 'fair and balanced'.

I thought we were in favor of free speech. I guess that applies only to people we agree with. Oh good gravy. Free speech deals with the GOVERNMENT saying you can't say something. As free Americans...people have a right to say "Hey NBC...don't show it or else." It's not censorship unless the government does it. If you say people can't protest against NBC...then you are denying THEIR freedom of speech.
Anyone has the right to tell anyone they don't want to see something on TV...except the government. That's the constitution. If you can find it in the constitution that I don't have a right to tell NBC "Don't show this or that..."and that THAT is called censorship or limiting freedom of speech...well...I'll be waiting.
So what you are saying is if we disagree with someone...we shouldn't say anything...then we lose our free speech.

Free speech is a two way road. They speak, we answer.
What could be freeer?

Um,
I don't see anybody introducing a law to prevent this movie from being shown.
I don't see anyone filing a lawsuit to prevent this movie from being shown, unlike the libs did to Sinclair and to the little movie theaters.
I see a business deciding not to air a program on their station. I see businesses declining to spend advertising money to sponsor a show they don't think their target audience will be watching. I see private citizens telling their local stations that they won't be watching the show.

"I thought we were in favor of free speech. I guess that applies only to people we agree with." Wrong. Free speech is about the government preventing people from speaking (sort of like how a policitical group can't air advertisements about candidates 60 days before the election). A Christian emailing NBC and telling them that their family will not watch this show and will not buy from the advertisers who support it is the exercising of speech, not the abrogation of it.

I thought we were in favor of free speech. I guess that applies only to people we agree with. ????????Where do you get off saying that??
Looks to me like NBC is showing their free speech in producing the show, and the audience their mostly Christian American audience is just starting their free speech calling them on the mat for this evil crap.
All kinds of free speech happening here........to bad NBC has not figured out what is good for business and what is bad for it, but then again perhaps it is not so bad after all showing more and more people exactly who runs these major networks.

they maybe entitled to free speech but we have a right to protest, and we don't have to give them money or support

First Free speech only applies to government interference. No Government agency is telling these Marxist to stop the show. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences. Call me a name and you may find a fist in your face.
Second, we do not have EQUAL speech. For example, where are the shows that show a positive, religious family? To date only the Simpsons has its characters going to Church, even thought about 80% of America goes to Church.
Why is it that even thought homosexuals are about 1.5% or the population, they are in over 60% of all shows, and about 30% or all characters?
You know that if this show was about Muslims, the Muslims would raise a swell of protest.
Why dont you protest the constant anti-Christian barrage now in Hollyweird.?

They have the right to say/display it.
I have the right to not watch, and to explain to others-affiliate managers & advertisers-why not.
They have to right to advertise it.
I have the right to lobby friends, family, and associates against it.
I for one have no desire to muzzle them. In fact, I prefer that they very publicly shoot themselves in the foot, and see them cry about a self inflicted wound, since they can't then yell 'censorship'.

This isn't free speech - it's commercial television. The clue is the word "commercial". Commerce ain't free.
