Congratulations on your hard fought win... it was a great game between two gret teams... I wish the outcome would have been different, but WOW...what a game.

By the way... there's only one thing worse than a sore loser... and that's an ungracious winner.

VY would have had 4 more shots at the TD if they had called that and would have more than likely got the PAT, in all reality it actually helped USC in the long run that they didnt call that.

Just as in the case of a passer being sacked -- was his arm going forward at the time he was sacked or fumbled. If so it is ruled a pass as it is considered the same as "the ball coming out" on a fumble review -- even if the ball is still in the passer's hand. If the arm is going forward the pass is considered tohave been started (Even if the ball is still in the players hand).

Wow good point - I think you are the only one that thought of that. If Young had been in the act of fumbling and his knee went down, it still would have been a fumble since it started before his knee hit.

I hope the talking heads consider this before they try to make USC the "real" champion on all of the sports shows.

"That's my opinion, not being a sports fanatic and all..." And a Texan, of course! Actually, I think what Leinart said was accurate. They had the game won and the blew it. Nothing to take away from Young, but that is how many people, including the sports writers saw it. As for Young's comments, they got quite a bit of press, but I really do think both QBs are quite gracious. After Leinart had a huge play to beat Notre Dame, Vince called him to congratulate him. After Texas won, both Bush and Leinart went to the Longhorns lockeroom to congratulate them. I think both QBs are awesome and both are gentlemen --- but there is nothing wrong with a little bit of honest talk as long as it isn't trash talk.

"LenDale White, on the other hand, IS a true running back . . . which is why he's the one who finished the game with 120+ rushing yards and three TDs."

Young did the same, and added a two-point conversion.

Ilearned from a similair play early this year involving Georgia. DJ was tackled as he was pitching the ball and the play ended up with a Big gain, and they reviewed it and ruled that since he had started the "pitch Motion" before his knee hit the ground that the play stood even though the ball was still in his hand. I Think it was against South Carolina, but it may have been the Boise St game.

Either way, I am happy to see UGA stay in the Top 10. IF one of the young QB's steps up next year, UGA could be a force again.

HOW BOUT THEM DAWGS!

A title for Texas
Young, 'Horns win epic Rose Bowl, end USC's dynasty

After the trophy presentation, Young draped his arms around two teammates' shoulders and the three of them sang "We are the champions."

Later, he ran into Leinart and Bush as the USC players walked past the Texas locker room and greeted each with a hug.

Texas coach Mack Brown took Bush aside near the entrance to the locker room and told him, "I thought it was a classy game. Nobody could stop anybody."

Classy in victory

"If a team drives the ball at will and then repeatedly turns it over in the red zone then maybe you would have a case for "giving it to them". That is not the case here." Sure it was. That happened several times in this game. And, yes, I think SC got really lucky in the ND game. It could have just as easily been ND's win.

I believe that the PAC 10 went 0-2 against BIG 12 teams in the bowls.

Oklahoma beat number 6 Oregon and of course Texas beat USC.

Nuff said!

However, one of the best games in the bowls in years.

Where is the PAC-10 ranked as a conference in defense and overall?

This is what you HAVE to look at to honestly defend your conference.

This fact I do have right...The PAC-10 had only TWO teams in the TOP TWENTY and BOTH lost.

"But they lost that game if the officials had not handed it to them."

What a load of craP.....the only thing known for sure is what happened after that play....had the touchdown been reversed who knows how the rest of the game would have gone.....there are millions of possibilities.....we will NEVER know the play by play which MIGHT have happened had the TD been reversed.....Maybe Texas kicks a field goal....kicks off to USC and USC fumbles to Texas on their own 1 yard line.....one of a million/billion scenrios

Back to what we know.....Touchdown happened....Texas made MORE mistakes which hurt themselves than USC.....AND STILL WON!!!!

Being a gracious TEXAN and not knowing much about sports, I'LL BOW OUT! The reason I watched the game, was my hubby and 3 boys are sports fanatics and I was FORCED into watching..so to me the QB quote was in bad taste.. IMHO! I'm happy to hear that ALL was well with them after the game in the locker room...KUDOS to them!!

I disagree. You can't give them the 6 and then assume he makes the PAT. You could likewise assume USC holds them, if we make the assumption that Texas scores legitimately after the review calls back the TD.

Texas wins, on the scoreboard, but, it's not really considered legit with that gift of 6pts when the crew could have done their job and reviewed ANY score that looked iffy.

Yeah -- it means this isn't a "conference" thing.

But who did USC beat in the conferences? Michigan was not the best non-conference team that year, LSU was. The next year, Oklahoma wasn't the best non-conference team, Auburn was.

It's a conference thing because no one in the Pac-10 has anywhere near the talent to compete with USC. The only way USC ever loses in the Pac-10 is if USC just plays really horribly and the other team has the game of its life. Playing only one or two tough games a year is a huge advantage injury wise as well.

If Auburn, LSU, Ohio State or Texas had been in the Pac-10 it is very likely that they would be on a 34 game winning streak as well.

Let's see if USC could go through Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, LSU and Alabama all in one year in the SEC and then win the championship game. It's very hard which is why you don't see long unbeaten streaks in the SEC.

How about USC going through Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin and Penn State every year in Big-10. That is why you don't see long unbeaten streaks in the Big-10 either.

How about USC going through Virgina Tech, FSU and Miami in the same year in the ACC. The ACC is more top heavy than the other two, but there are still 3 teams just as talented as USC where in the Pac-10 there are none.

USC went through the last two season with almost zero major injuries to any of their starters. Compare that to other top notch teams in other conferences. Only playing one or two really tough games a year allows your teams to be really healthy at the end of the year in the bowl game.

This is the same advantage that Nebraska and Oklahoma enjoyed during the 80s and early 90s in the Big-8.

don't give me this "we were robbed crap"

If USC kicks a FG instead of going for it on 4th down in the 1st QTR OR if they punt late in the 4th, they would have won the game.

USC's own star fumbled on that stupid lateral....

USC's QB threw an INT at the goalline....

That's at least 2 TDs left on the field there.

USC did it to themselves.

B.S. They were given 6pts. You saw it, I saw it, 80million people saw it. There are millions of possibilities. However, giving a team 6points and not assuming that USC could have held them to at least a FG is equally foolish.
