Jaeger further expressed criticism of Israeli policy regarding holy sites in the country. But no problem with the Palis treating the Bethelem Church like a latrine?

Did I hear criticism of the palestinian terrorists when they invaded the Church of the Nativity?

For the record, Jerusalem was to be an open international city in January of 1949. The Arabs reneged on the agreement before the ink was dry. Somebody shopuld remind the Vatican that Arab promises are the hope of fools.

Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.
Case closed. No issue.

The Vatican has a lot of money. Maybe they can buy some land in the neighborhood.

With Israel capitulating on all fronts, this would be penalized as "piling on".
Disgusting, unwarranted, and making a mockery of recent Vatican gestures to the Jewish people, just a side note.

First, I will say something that sounds outrageous and then I will try to explain it.
Who Cares?
It doesn't matter a lick what "authority" is in charge of Jerusalem. "Holy Sites" are holy because someone way back before I was born said "this is where Jesus was buried, crucified, born etc. It doesn't matter if He was born in Bethlehem at the site of the Church of the Nativity or at the site of the current terrorist training facility. It doesn't matter if He was crucified at Golgotha or Gorden's Calvary.
It matters that He was born and that he suffered, died and resurrected. Moses tomb was kept a secret because God did not want the Jews to worship the site of his burial. Let us take an example from The Most High and stop putting so much importance on a place and more importance on Him who created all places.

Ping - this could cause a real rhubarb.
As far as I know, when Israel controlled towns where Christian holy places were located (such as Bethlehem), no Christian places were trashed. It was when the Philistine Authority gained control that places were trashed. As far as I know, Israel has always permitted the different Christian communities to administer their holy places themselves and stays out of ecclesiastical matters, so I'm not sure just what the hangup is for Jaeger. I doubt that any sane person in the Vatican would want Christian places under the control/authority of the Philistines.
Could this be a person in the Vatican trying to throw a monkey wrench into Pope Benedict's policies? It wouldn't be the first time some lower-level Vatican bureaucrat caused embarrassment.

I suggest that Israel and the PA divide Jerusalem. I propose the the PA can have all of Jerusalem 6 feet below the surface, Israel can have the top.
Once my solution is put into practice the grass will be a lot greener in Jerusalem. Trust me.
