LOL...Typical of truck drivers, most of them didn't follow directions. (directions...heck I don't need no directions!)
I asked them all to put GL (for our website) in front of their names. I see that 4 of them didn't do that. :)
Sorry.
:O)

It is so early in the game that they could change their name and not loose too many places. In fact, all of GetLoaded.com could use the same screen name, but that lacks the individuality that "GL_*" provides.

Clara Lou,
For your OSX Mac to operate at its maximum efficiency, it really should be left on over night. OSX does housekeeping in the early mornings after no activity from the keyboard is noted. Disk optimization, clean ups, etc. occur then automatically. This would be an ideal time to allow it to continue running F@H.
As to your setting, it depends on whether your iBook is a G3 or a G4 iBook. You said it's less than two years old, but the first G4 iBook came out in October 2003 but G3 iBooks were still in the distribution pipeline for several months after their discontinuation also in October 2003.
F@H software runs a benchmark test on your computer to see what is the ideal WU to run on your computer and then assigns it WUs that fit that model. I have my G5 set for the "No Preference" mode.
If your laptop is a G3, then it is most likely suited to smaller assignments on no-deadline. It lacks the altivec engine found in G4s and G5 Macs that give them a real boost in running math like this. If your laptop is a G4, then it will have the Altivec engine and can run almost anything including WUs on deadline.
You can find out which processor your iBook holds by clicking on the "About this Mac" selection under the Blue Apple menu.
I hope this helps.

I would just load it with the defaults. It won't get the large WU's, but on from 8-4pm, it should chew through the average WU in about 5 days, vice the usual 1 1/2 days...

hehehe... after a full day of only getting about 200 points done, I had about 8 of them, finish up 600 pt work units, and that kicked it into overdrive...

Thank you so much for the info! It will be easy for me to leave on overnight. (Will it keep running with the top closed, or do I need to leave it open?) She'll be up and running Tuesday morning! [And, within the next month, I'll be getting a NEW one!!!]

Will it keep running with the top closed, or do I need to leave it open? Hmmmmm... You know, I don't know. I don't own one. I suggest setting the sleep option to "never" and set the display to sleep, then leave it open over night.
'll be getting a NEW one!!!
Do you get to keep your old one? If so, run it 24/7. .. or send it to me! :^)>

Thanks again. I can leave it open in one of my locked desk drawers with the airport on. No, I don't get to keep it. It will be passed down the line for some student to abuse. :-(

The overtake projection suggest we will be in the top 700 in 4 days... Why, that's nothing - we're projected to overtake the #59 team, the Sharky Forums gang, by April 2034! ;)
Cracking the top 300 teams should be pretty easy - after that, it's a little bit more of a slog, just because there are so many teams with a huge head start on us...

That's just about the time my computer will finish this Tinker WU. =:o

Oops, I mistyped it - it's actually 20
24, not 2034. Hey, maybe you'll be the one to push us over the top ;)
Of course, there are a lot of other teams coming up fast - by the time we would overtake them, they'd be a lot further down the list than #59. And some of the other teams are producing at such a rate that even though we're gaining on them, it's too slowly for us to realistically overtake them. Team Firefox (#79) has a lead of 6.3 million points on us - we're gaining on them at a rate of 76 points per day. Which means it'll only take us 230 years to catch up :)

Which means it'll only take us 230 years to catch upYep, but there are a lot of teams that have gone flat also, so top 100 is not unrealistic... We're now producing a projected 300,000 points per month, so that's only 20 months away, and the full power of the freeper brigade hasn't kicked in.
If there's 100,000 freepers, and all of them signed up tommorrow, and did a single 46 point workunit, that would give us a 4 million point boost by Wednesday.

How can we make that happen?
Is there someone here that knows Mr. Robinson, and can ask him to promote it on all the threads?
I'll donate another $100.00 if he does, maybe someone else will also, it'll be like buying an ad...and look at the "bragging rights" FR would get!
Personally, I suspect that someone on DU is using a network from an elected official's office. Or several.
But, hey, that's just my paranoid/schizophrenic mind at play...

Hmmm...now that you mention it. I suppose that I'll have to set it to "pause when done." I just can't leave it out and running. Janitorial will be pulling down porn on my login if I leave it on my desk.

I'm not so sure - not to be discouraging, but there are also some hard-chargers already ahead of us but not in the top 100. Not to say it can't be done, but it's for sure not an overnight thing, and probably not a 2006 thing either. Or 2007 ;)
