Reply to Mark Blum's "Ain't No "Jew" in G.O.P." "Ain't No "Jew" in G.O.P." states, "Nothing a Jew believes in; socially, politically, morally, or economically is consistent with the Bush Administration and current Republican doctrine." While Bush might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, his primary loyalty is to the United States which is more than I can say for Kerry, Clinton, and the people they surround themselves with.

It's the Democratic Party's own fault that it lost the 2004 election. If it had put up a decent human being with a body temperature of roughly 98.6 degrees F, it could have easily beaten an unpopular President but it put up John Kerry instead.

George Bush did not consort openly with racists and anti-Semites like Al "Juden Raus" Sharpton, whose followers reenacted the Night of the Broken Glass in Crown Heights while he leveled phony rape allegations against innocent white people in Wappingers Falls NY. George Bush did not invite Michael Moore, who called the terrorists who are murdering American soldiers in Iraq "Minutemen," to speak at his convention. George Bush did not receive $20 or $25 million in support from George Soros, who hates Israel and who has called the United States a threat to world peace. George Bush did not knife our Armed Forces in the back not merely once but twice as Kerry did, with phony atrocity accusations that the enemy can use to recruit even more terrorists with whom to murder our soldiers.

I am furthermore proud to say that I may have personally cost Albert Gore the 2000 election by breaking the back of the Million Mom March before it could deliver the few hundred votes that might have made the difference in Florida.

The 501(c)(3) tax-exempt Million Mom March's apparent mission was to turn out votes for Gore and other Democratic candidates under the cover of promoting "gun safety." The MMM was joined in this by Union of American Hebrew Congregations (now Union for Reform Judaism) leader Eric Yoffie. At the MMM's Mother's Day rally, Yoffie exhorted his listeners, "we're going to find out who's getting NRA funds, and benefiting from NRA ads, and we're going to vote for the other guy. ...The American people, I believe, are ready for a leader who will take on the fanatics and support sensible gun control.

Even though 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations cannot attempt to influence elections, the MMM's own Web site promoted House candidates with its Apple Pie Award page and attacked Tom DeLay with its Time Out Chair page. I was the person who forwarded this information to pro-Second Amendment columnist J.R. Labbe, who published a column that appeared all over the country. One could almost SEE the Million Mom March crumple up during the next month as its allies deserted it and it struggled with damage control.

It's possible that crippling the MMM almost half a year before the election cost Gore the tiny margin he needed in Florida; if so, I am proud to be the one who did it to him. In addition to supporting gun control, Gore endorsed the Kyoto Treaty, which is simply a mechanism for transferring American jobs to China. (Since China gave illegal campaign money to Clinton-Gore, I can understand why Clinton signed the treaty.)

Your friend Clinton meanwhile sold out Israel instead of recognizing that its enemies consist of terrorists who have NO right to negotiate treaties, peace agreements, land transfers, or anything else. You don't negotiate with terrorists, you kill them. (Bush's record here has admittedly been less than admirable as well, and the same goes for Israel's own leaders.)

If you want to win in 2008, put up a decent human being and I may even vote for him or her. If you don't, the Elephant will get yet another four years in the White House.

First of all, please stop using the word “Jewish”. To a Jew, the word “Jewish” should be as offensive to the Hebrew ear as is “Nigger” to an African ear or “Wop” to an Italian ear. To be a “Jew” means to be a follower of Judaism. To be “Jewish”, in English, means to “act like a Jew.” The “ish” ending that Americans have affixed to the word “Jew” is screwing it all up.

How does one get into Law School, graduate, and pass the bar without understanding the difference between nouns adn adjectives?
Just as a "Swede" is "Swedish", a "Jew" is "Jewish".

I tell you that story because it makes a very important point. This buddy of mine was likewise a staunch Republican. In his mind, Osama and Sadaam were one in the same. While I tried to reach out to his heart and mind, he was very entrenched in his opinions and attitudes. His vote is going for George W. Bush.

So Blum has a "friend" who is an ignorant fellow, who steriotypes all Jews as cheap, and is a Republican. From this, Blum steriotypes all Republicans as ignorant. It seems to me that Blum is ignorant in the art of rhetoric. (I certainly would not trust him to make a descent arguement in a case!)

Over the past years, I have seen well who in fact are the friends and supporters of the President and who intend to vote for his re-election. I see the hardcore Christian Right being the President’s core base. Crosses were embedded in the podium at the Republican convention. These are the people who seek to instill Christian values in schools and in society. Republicans are the ones who want to limit voter access to the polls, do not recognize a basic fundamental inalienable right to privacy of the self. Republicans are the party of big spenders (retail, I might add … and to Halliburton as well), and the massive growth of government and taxes. They are a warrior people; an evangelical people.

Many Republicans are Christian Conservatives. This means that many of their values come from the Torah.
As for instilling their views in schools, there is no such thing as neutrality in pedagogy. (I could cite Plato, Horace Mann, or John Dewey, but I doubt that Blum would care.) The public school system was created to educate children to be good citizens. This involved teaching them, American history, reading, writting, literatuire, mathematics, and instilling certain values upon which this country was based. Part of this cultural indoctronation was prayer in schools based on a rather generic Protestant program.
Having taken that away, we now teach children that God does not exist, that America is evil, proper grammar is racist, our literature is culturally biased, and that calculators can replace mathematical skills.

Jews are not a warrior People. We are a peaceful lot. Culturally, we give so much to our communities and have always worked hard to join in and advance whatever culture we find ourselves. We do not even have a concept of ‘Hell’. That idea is a gift to mankind from our Christian brothers. Until 1948, the Jews opted to suffer the pains of stupid human tricks rather than bring on bloodshed. Those that were not randomly slaughtered just moved on. Since 1948, the words “Never Again” are not a slogan; they are a blood oath shared by all Jews.

Talk about a Ghetto mentality. Blum should crack open the Bible. Jews have taken up arms when necessary to defend ourselves and even conquer land. We have also tried to free Israel by force many times since the Romans invaded. Aside from a smattering of inconsequential actions, there were the Great Judean Revolts of 66-70CE, 132-135CE and the lesser revolts of 117 and 615-18 CE.

Yes, Israel is under attack. No, siding with the current Republican Agenda is not going to alleviate that attack. It is only making it worse. America wants to escalate the war. Bush wants to take the fight to them to prevent the fight from coming here. “Taking the fight to them” means taking the fight to Israel. The U.S. is provoking Iran who in turn is threatening Israel. Jews do NOT need this shit in their lives. If memory serves, it was not until George Bush labeled Iran part of the Axis of Evil, that the Iranians turned on their nuclear development machine.

Evidently Blum is not only ignorant of Islam and Jihad, but also recent history. The Iranian nuclear program is over a decade old.

When Clinton was President, he made it his goal to end the Israeli / Palestinian conflict. He was damn near close to it. There were accords and peace and doors opening and withdrawals and but-for the insolvable issue of Jerusalem, it was all but done and over. Then we saw what happens with the Right wing take-over. First Sharon, then Bush. Since then, the entire region has turned to shit. Israelis are building a Warsaw-esque wall. They are not me. I am not them.
Quite true. Blum is an idiot (literal sense) who failed to understand /Arab intentions, the concept of the "Hudna", or to actually read what the Arabs were saying. The reason is not stupidity but willfull ignorance due to utopian idealism. Perhaps in a past life, he really did believe that the soldiers were marching him in for a shower.

I am an American Jew. I am an American voter. I am not an Israeli and my first priority is to American interests. Anybody who seeks to line up support for the Bush presidency based on religion cannot ask a Jew to support them. Nothing a Jew believes in; socially, politically, morally, or economically is consistent with the Bush Administration and current Republican doctrine.

Yes, the Bush GOP is annoyingly liberal, but the Democrats are worse.
Of course, I would love to see how Blum defines Jewish social, political or economic beliefs.

Most importantly of all, let us not forget that it was Bush’s blind charge into Iraq that has become the #1 recruiting event for new anti-Israel sentiment and increased death. Bush’s support of the Wall is making the situation far worse. Local Republicans invited known terrorists to march down the streets of Syracuse. Republicans have invited terrorists into our country because they rally Republican votes. But Cat Stevens is denied entry. They are making national lists and amassing a national database. Never forget that Bush and Rove have deep financial and family connections to pre and post WWII Nazis. “According to Bob Woodward's Bush at War, Bush attended a New York Yankees game soon after the September 11 World Trade Center disaster. He wore a fireman's jacket. As he threw out the first pitch, the crowd roared. Thousands of fans stuck out their arms with thumbs up. Karl Rove, sitting in the box of Yankee owner George Steinbrenner, likened the roar of the crowd to "a Nazi rally."

The Bush administration has done a poor job of screening out Islamists and Muslims in general. The reason is the same liberal idiocy, Blum supports everywhere else.
I sincerely dioubt that Blum would support sealing our borders, expelling non-citizen Muslims, ending Muslim immigration, and investigating every Mosque and Muslim group in the US.

As for the supposed Rove quote, Woodward is a liar.

As an American, vote your conscience. But if your status as a Jew is the deciding factor for whom you cast your vote for President, then how could you ever stand together with the right wing religious fundamentalists. Israel will be safe no matter who is President. American Jews have a great deal of political influence over Congress. Think of your home, not your homeland. This election will determine whether you have a right to live in either.

Last time I checked right wing religious fundamentalist Christians and Jews disagreed on theology, but agreed on most moral issues. Blum must be defining Judaism as liberalism.

Interesting that this moron would make that statement at the beginning of Chanukkah, in which a great military victory over superior forces (a miracle in and of itself) led to another miracle... And someone might want to have this "Jew" check out the Torah, and maybe look into the writings of the Prophets... David was a warrior king, as was Saul. There were many great warriors in the history of the Jewish people.

And maybe someone should have him look into something more modern (speaking of ghetto), how about the Warsaw Ghetto uprising? Or the revolt at Treblinka?

The guy must be a criminal defense or environmental lawyer. The few I've met have no problems with ignoring the truth, and twisting facts.
