China will never go down, and don't think you can banish communism. Because the people won't let it. They know they are the last standing, they are the only ones left. America is in a decline while China's climaxing, America will go down. We are just done with our prime, if anything, we were going into a depression since 1992 (and don't say you don't know that year). Communism is the American's medias' worst nightmare, because of censorship. I hope we all have to read one newspaper and wipe my butt with one brand of tiolet paper. I hope we all die for our next generations to wear the red armband. We deserved 9/11, and they enjoyed it. You probably hate me now, I know, you just still think like its 1945, well too bad its 2005. We only stand to fall.

yes, Mad Bastard is the bow.
it is an approximation (limited by inexperience, sketchy information, and avaiable materials) of a Yumi - a traditional Japanese laminated bamboo asymmetric longbow.
it is coming along to being finished - I have completed the primary bindings and am well on the way to finishing the secondary bindings (which really make it quite lovely)
Once all bindings are complete, I shall seal the bow with clear lacquer or thin polyurethane varnish.
I shall then string it and leave it strung for about a month.
If it takes that well, I shall then gradually exercise it to full draw - a process which shall take a few weeks.

I'm fine - it has just been one of those weeks, yanno? an endless succession of unexpected and aggravating labor-intensive evolutions, combined with just about everyone getting dangerously underfoot.

Those periods beset you for only a week at a time, eh? My current one started about twenty-three years ago!
Today's adventure constitutes having a clogged drain. I'm heading out now to upgrade my equipment so that I can escalate the response to it. Something short of Nuclear, I suppose.

tuesday - all day... machete, mattock, shovel, to secure my yard for a dog I don't actually want who despite being quite stupid has a remarkable ability to get out. thick vines, thick roots, and brick-butts made this job O so pleasant.
wednesday - afternoon... 4.5hrs repairing a toilet, including 2.5hrs lying in a cramped space filing off a bolt which had frozen solid - where I had just under .5" stroke length available for the file. grrrrrrrrrrr.......
thursday - all day... horse arriving a day early necessitated emergency finishing of the stalls in the barn. cold, dry, windy, 11 hours straight.
friday - morning... office hens really asking for the swing of the axe. not my concern, but they do make the office an unpleasant place when they get all riled up. afternoon - familial duty forced me to call off a movie date with the woman I have been starting to see.
those are just the "high" points.
it is.
the bamboo is a pale blonde/tan with variegated light green highlights.
the primary bindings are cotton twine, dyed in my coffee, which - in combination with the wood glue used in application - produces a hue and pattern closely matching the grain of the bamboo, but perpendicular to it.
the secondary bindings are dark green nylon thread, and appear almost black at first glance but reveal themselves under closer examination. the secondary bindings "cap" the ends of the primary bindings.
Great arrangement!
In the past few days, these are the tools I have had occasion to use:

10 inch pipe wrench

1/2 inch drill
various needle-nose, lock-jaw, and regular pliers
crescent wrench
shovel
leaf rake
screwdrivers of all types
electrical wire, tape, and devices
bandaids
aspirin
hose clamp
drain auger
drywall tape, compound, and tools
ditto for paint rollers and brushes
Heck, it wears me out just fetching the tools!
But all of this is just a continuation of the regular events around here. I never know before the day is over whether I will be a spelunker or a steeplejack, a plumber or an electrician, or perhaps a terrifying combination of the above.
Makes life interesting, don't it?
I find it annoying, especially as my proper work does not simply "go away" in the meantime.

Dyed in your coffee... is that the sludge you make that closely approximates the effect of my coffee, or is that the 'regular daily' stuff?
