LONG LIVE RED CHINA (Would you like your troll mein with soft or crispy noodles?)

China will never go down, and don't think you can banish communism. Because the people won't let it. They know they are the last standing, they are the only ones left. America is in a decline while China's climaxing, America will go down. We are just done with our prime, if anything, we were going into a depression since 1992 (and don't say you don't know that year). Communism is the American's medias' worst nightmare, because of censorship. I hope we all have to read one newspaper and wipe my butt with one brand of tiolet paper. I hope we all die for our next generations to wear the red armband. We deserved 9/11, and they enjoyed it. You probably hate me now, I know, you just still think like its 1945, well too bad its 2005. We only stand to fall.

On King Raedwald of East Anglia (from Wikipedia.com):

Rædwald (d. c. 627) was King of East Anglia from about 599 until his death and Anglo-Saxon Bretwalda from about the year 616. He was the son of Tytila. During Raedwald's reign, East Anglia reached the height of its power, and he was the only East Anglian king to be recognized as Bretwalda.

The exiled prince Edwin of Deira took refuge in East Anglia around the year 615, seeking protection from his rival, the Northumbrian king Aethelfrith. Aethelfrith attempted to bribe Raedwald into having Edwin killed, and it is said that at first Raedwald meant to accept, but later refused after he was admonished by his wife that it would be dishonorable to murder a guest. It may be that Raedwald's actual reasoning was more pragmatic, but in any case, he then assembled an army and marched against Northumbria, and a battle was fought by the river Idle. The Northumbrian army was apparently the smaller force, and it seems that this was because Raedwald's attack had taken Aethelfrith by surprise and not allowed him enough time to assemble a great force. Although Raedwald's son Raegenhere was killed, the battle was a great East Anglian victory: Aethelfrith was killed, his sons fled to the north, and Edwin became king of Northumbria. It was from this point that Raedwald was considered Bretwalda.

Raedwald converted to Christianity at the urging of King Ethelbert of Kent, but he is thought to have vacillated between the new religion and the traditional pagan beliefs. According to Bede, after his conversion "he was seduced by his wife and certain perverse teachers, and turned back from the sincerity of the faith; and thus his latter state was worse than the former; so that, like the ancient Samaritans, he seemed at the same time to serve Christ and the gods whom he had served before". Furthermore, at his temple in Rendlesham, he is said to have had both a Christian shrine and a pagan shrine side by side. This juxtaposition was not an uncommon occurrence during the early years of Christianity in Britain.

He is thought to be the most likely candidate to be the principal of the Sutton Hoo ship burial, although no bodily remains were ever retrieved from this site.

And now the opening of one of my favorite epics--in Old English, of course--Beowulf:

HWÆT, WE GAR-DEna in geardagum,
þeodcyninga þrym gefrunon,
hu ða æþelingas ellen fremedon!
oft Scyld Scefing sceaþena þreatum,
monegum mægþum meodosetla ofteah,
egsode eorlas, syððanærest wearð
feasceaft funden; he þæs frofre gebad,
weox under wolcnum weorðmyndum þah,
oð þæt him æghwylc ymbsittendra
ofer hronrade hyran scolde,
gomban gyldan; þæt wæs god cyning!
Ðæm eafera wæs æfter cenned
geong in geardum, þone God sende
folce to frofre; fyrenðearfe ongeat,
þe hie ær drugon aldorlease
lange hwile; him þæs Liffrea,
wuldres Wealdend woroldare forgeaf,
Beowulf wæs breme --- blæd wide sprang---
Scyldes eafera Scedelandum in.
Swa sceal geong guma gode gewyrcean,

Hi everyone! How are things? I finished my paper tonight, so now I will have one weekend where I won't have to worry about it before school starts!

But I've been up since 6 this morning, and I have to get up at 6 am tomorrow. So good night!

Just checking in for a bit this morning. Vegas is huge, and Lake Mead isn't. You'd think with all that global warming, we'd have a lot more melted ice in the lake, right?

It's quite a bit colder here than in Tucson, so I guess I need to get used to it, since I'll be moving back here in June.

Calvin made the trip just fine, but poor Hobbes wet her pants before we even got out of Tucson, so I had to smell cat pee for 417 miles...I did get some relief when I opened the vents, but for the first two hours, it was too cold to do that. She and the little rat terrier, Daisy, have been having fun playing tag. Calvin would rather hide...

I'll be heading for home early Monday morning, and I'm hoping the traffic isn't too bad. The drivers here are NUTS!!! I had forgotten what it was like...

The thread has been pretty interesting the last two days, even though I wasn't able to catch up on it all until this morning.

I'll try to get on later today, but my two oldest grandsons have been playing computer games, so reserving time here is iffy.

Later, all!

'Face
XOXO

Didn't know you were moving again ... good luck!

I'm having trouble getting a turn, what with the kids playing games, but Bill is skiing today so there's one less competitor.

Have a good weekend!

Are you moving or scouting a move? Good luck and thanks for letting me know where you are.

However, I live in New England and can't imagine Vegas or Tucson EVER being cold!

Lat night here, we had 30 degrees, and the days have been in the 60's. I have seen it down to 18 with a wind chill of -29, Nevada is all mountain, except for this valley, and all the mountains run north and south. When the wind blows at its worst, it is usually from the north, and in the winter, that means we get VERY cold.

We're at 2173 feet, so it's a little colder here than it would be in CA. It IS desert, but it's "high desert," meaning it can be 120 in the daytime, and get down to 60 at night in the summer.

Tucson is a little higher, but being farther south, it is a little milder in winter. Tucson still has green trees. Here, they are all bare, except for the palms and the evergreens.

Actually, I'm just moving back here. I lived here for 20 years, then thought the grass was greener elsewhere. I'm looking forward to mobing back. :o]
