Movie isn't just pro-gay, but anti-marriage
Jewish World Review ^ | December 19 2005 | Michael Medved

The front runner in this year's Oscar race is "Broke Back Mountain," about two Wyoming cowboys conducting a homosexual affair in the '60's and '70's.

Gay activists embrace the movie, hailing it as a "timeless love story" showing the joys of male-on-male passion, but they ignore one key factor in the plot: both men are married, with children, and their long-standing relationship ultimately destroys both marriages.

Would commentators similarly applaud a story of cheating, if the adultery involved a married man and a married woman?

Political correctness justifies a gay affair for allowing the participant to express his "true self," but a husband involved with a much younger woman could similarly claim that only with his fresh, new love could his real nature come out.

The main problem with "Broke Back Mountain" isn't that it's pro-gay; it's that the emphasis on following your urges rather than honoring your responsibilities is, at its heart, anti-marriage.

Sure. It was called "Bridges of Madison County". Okay, only the woman was married there, but both lives were saddened afterwards because of it.

The vast majority of Hollywood's output glorifies adultery and praises home-wrecking and marriage-destruction. Why would anybody be surprised when they make another one?

I had the pleasure of seeing my sister caught in a trap when she was telling me that "Pretty Woman" was only a movie, and her young daughter said "Then being a prostitute is a GOOD thing?" Likely a lot of you would argue the same, although you are having a hissy fit about this movie and would have a worse one if it were "pretty man" instead of "pretty woman."

I've always suspected that Maureen Dowd has a secret lust for Dubya.

She knows deep down that she needs a real man.

Yes, of course.

Hi, Little Jeremiah,
I wouldn't see it either for any amount, unless blindfolded.
But see, the gay agenda isn't sex. And it isn't gay marriage.
The gay agenda isn't even gay,
The "gay" agenda is just a rewrite of the feminist agenda, same cast, new lines, and the goal is to relieve people of the First Amendment rights of free speech so they can go about their family-destructive business unimpeded.
I visited a church last Sunday and spoke with the pastor, Jim Grove, who is an activist. Jim had been arrested a few months ago because he had dared to speak out for the Biblical world view at a gay rally. He was charged with a "hate" crime. He was eventually acquitted, but it cost him money and he wasn't reimbursed. He went on to sue the city of Harrisburg, PA, where he has been arrested. He won the case and the cite admitted he was falsely arrested. Jim's attorney's fees came to $4,000. The jury awarded him $1.
Jim's case should tell anyone with half a brain what the gay fundamentalists really want: to rob people of the First Amendment right to speak our minds so they can have free rein in destroying what's left of our culture. And the bad guys are winning. Jim's $4,000 amounts to a fine, and it was imposed for speaking his mind.
Christians, please stop praying those silly prayers in church thanking God for a "free" country. Pray earnestly for God to give you your free country back!

I stopped going to the movies, just as I stopped buying anything printed with a left wing slant.

If we want to stop them we need to boycott anything they produce for profit.

I agree with just about everything everyone who posted in this thread has to say on the subject. But....How many threads do we NEED on this 'movie'? How many does this make now....96?

Mounting Bare Back was even denounced by Nathan Lane. He said that these guys should stop torturing these poor women. If it was just the Gay theme that earned accolades then The Bird Cage would have gotten them. But these guys are humiliating their wives and the Act Up crowd likes that.

Yep. Try committed gay partners in which one cheats on another. Adultery is so glamorous people hop beds without giving it a second thought. Lest I be accused to being a homophobe, its not just gays that are anti-marriage. We heterosexuals have to put our own house in order even though homosexuality is not conducive to lasting happiness. To combat a perverted lifestyle, we need to be able to claim the moral high ground.

This movie's subtitle should be "Raw Hind."

The Foolkiller quote:"I agree with just about everything everyone who posted in this thread has to say on the subject. But....How many threads do we NEED on this 'movie'? How many does this make now....96?"

96 threads about this horrifying film is a paltry sum.

Wow. Five short paragraphs of superficiality. That's a long belch masquerading as an article. Michael did a much better and more balanced job on his radio show when he pointed out that the movie was very well done (***1/2 of ****) and showed how the lives of the families of these two were destroyed.

If you can find an article about the pastor, post it. Or maybe the pastor would want to write up his experience and you can post it as a vanity. Either way, if you do, ping me and DirtyHarryY2K.

In fact, here's a related article from our neighbor to the north:

BTW, most of the original feminists, at least in the 60s, were angry, raving, vengeful, man hating lebsians. And many of the "important" ones still are.

Hmm, thoughts come to my mind... If (big if, not in this small rural town) this movie shows here, maybe I'll forego the million for the pleasure of offering the running commentary...

:-)

I will try to post the pastor's article in his church newsletter if that will work.
Pastor Grove is at the epicenter of a struggle to preserve what is arguably Americans' most important right, and both the conservative press and the liberal press are giving him short shrift.
