Even worse, I fear Congress may use the immigration bill to create a national employment database that has nothing to do with border control and everything to do with monitoring American citizens and employers
I think that's exactly what's going to happen. Ron Paul always tells it like it is.

I agree with most of what Ron Paul wrote but I disagree with him about the need for reliable workplace ID's and a database so that employers can quickly and accurately check the status of prospective employees. If Ron Paul could roll back everything else that has been done by the Federal Government then maybe he would have a point. Until I see that happen, he is living in a dream world that has nothing to do with current reality.

Since no president is going to enforce the law on this issue, then it is imperative that employers be forced to check a database to see if the SS number matches. Employers should be fined if they hire an illegal alien.

I'm hard pressed to name a more sensible member of congress on a wide range of issues than Ron Paul.

you are assuming the role of government is to check the database. No, it is your responsibility to file an income tax form every year, and likewise it is an employer's responsibility to check a database to verify an employee's documents are valid.

Everyone should send this common sense from Ron Paul to his or her representative. I sent it to Jane Harman.

Very good from Ron Paul. He is not a Wall Street Journal open borders type of libertarian

The IRS issues taxpayer ID numbers to illegal aliens. They do this with the full knowledge that these people are illegal, and do not report these illegal aliens to immigration.
Employers take taxes from the illegal aliens and give them to the government. If they fail to do this, the IRS will send men with guns to arrest them. That is the way it is now.
You want to add even more government redtape to the problem created by goverment. Don't blame employers...blame the IRS.

Employers are already responsible for making certain the employee qualifies. Check the required documentation.

If someone presents a taxpayer ID number they are qualified. The IRS issues the taxpayer ID number. If the IRS does not care if the recipient is illegal or legal, how can you expect the employer to double check the IRS...?

Eployers are required to have various forms of ID, not simply a taxpayer ID. I suggest you check the law.

"
...we must end birthright citizenship..."
"Birthright" is normally a right conferred upon a chile from the PARENT, not a "country". The ONLY thing any illegal alien ought be abled to confer upon their children born here is their own illegality.

Then why do you want more government red tape?
The government could put a stop to this now. The fact is that government wants the tax income generated by illegals, and the votes of American welfare supporters.

Try obeying the law for once instead of doing everything in your power to escape what you are required to do.
