Al Franken: 'We have to win on values' ( BARF ALERT !!! )
Star Tribune ^ | December 9, 2005

Posted on 12/11/2005 9:11:52 AM PST by wallcrawlr

Minnesota native Al Franken is moving back to Minneapolis, bringing his national radio talk show with him. He is also considering a future run for the U.S. Senate. Last week he was in town promoting his latest book, "The Truth (with jokes)," and doing a live broadcast from the Pantages Theater. On Sunday afternoon he came to the Star Tribune for a meeting with members of the editorial board. The following is excerpted from their conversation:

Al Franken: I know it's probably a bad way to start, but could you guys tell me where to get a Sunday Times? [Silence.] That was a joke.

Q Could you tell us why you're moving the show to Minneapolis?

A Because I can. I'm an empty-nester now, and I'd always thought about moving back to Minnesota. You can do a radio show from pretty much anywhere. Also, I'm thinking of getting involved politically here, so I moved at the first opportunity to come back.

What you guys probably don't know is that I've formed a PAC, called Midwest Values PAC, MVP. I'm going to be raising money for progressive organizations and candidates -- here in Minnesota, in the Midwest and around the country.

Q The last time we talked, it sounded pretty sure that you were going to run for Senate.

A That was your interpretation. I've never been sure that I am. I'm very seriously considering it, but I don't know whether I'm running or not. This cycle, I'm going to be campaigning for Democrats all over the state and all over the country.

I prefer to just start naming off conservative values and refer to them as progressive. Just take on the whole lexicon of the left and apply it to the right. It drives 'em nuts.

Hey, I like the cut of your jib. The worst thing to happen to the Left was when the Right wised up and stole the Left's playbook.

Reminds me of a semantic trick I taught my teenage sons to use when dealing with leftist filth (who usually have little grasp of history):

FrieceDraka: "So you're a socialist, huh?"
Usefull Idiot: "Yes."
FD: "So is it safe to assume that you advocate imposing socialism on a national level?"
UI: "Absolutely. We must see to it that all peoples..."
FD: "That's nice. So, would you refer to yourself as a NATIONAL socialist?"
UI: "Why yes, I would."
FD: "Know how to say National Socialism in German?"
UI: "No."
FD: "Nah-tsee-o-nahl Zoh-tsee-al-eess-moose. The shortened version is pronounced NAZI!"

"Dem...values"

I've tried until I was blue in the face (no pun intended) to get my lib relatives, family members, and friends to explain their political philosophy. All I can get out of them is how much they hate Bush and if they're females, how important the "right" to have an abortion is. I can get many of them to admit that many lib programs and attitudes are failures, but they still won't give up their hatred for Republicans. Not even my octagenarian parents who are more socially conservative than I am, but still are rock-ribbed Dems.

I agree with Franken. Send Bill Clinton out on tour as the Democrat Party Values Ambassador.

Wow, it's amazing what viscious and hateful commentary spews from value-packed conservatives!

Yeah - ain't it cool?

Want to know why most of us have such loathing and contempt for Franken and his fellow useful idiots? Simple - we see them as red-flag waving Communists who, if given the opportunity, would not give a second thought to imposing their "utopia" on disarmed Americans by any means necessary. That includes the mass murder of any people who dare to resist them.

OK, I admit that I use polemic to get my point across. Heh heh heh.

If Al Franken, Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, Ted Kennedy, and John Kerry ever end up in the same place at the same time it may cause a vortex and suck the known universe into a giant black hole.

Didn't Al Gore do that on an episode of "Futurama"?

Here's the real question how much of that money is going to wind up in Al's pocket?

What does he mean he's an empty-nester? Does he actually have kids?

That occurred to me as well. I always thought he was a flaming queerboy.

Yeah.
He has three whole posts to his name.
The first on April 17th this year, and then the two in this thread.
*snort*

Wonder when he'll catch the zot bug.

Ha. He managed to keep quiet for almost eight months, but the lil' Al comments were just too much. What a waste, that's no way to troll.

I know this line has been used in another setting before, but having Al Franken speak of moral values is like having Madonna speak for virginity.

Do you hate Al Franken because of his books detailing the lies and deceit by Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, and other right wing scum bags?

What lies and deceit?
Care to explain?

What about the fact that Al Franken is a whiny sissy socialist scumbag?

Right wing scumbags?

Interesting choice of words to use on a conservative forum.

Are your fingers tingling?

Did you think we wouldn't be paying attention?
You thought you'd just get real quiet for awhile and we'd go away?
