I thought that I heard McCain make an odd statement about Bush using info obtained through torture in his speech about WMD. What could that be all about?

I believe he was referring to the 16 words in the State of the Union speech when the President said Iraq was attempting to obtain uranium from Africa and he said that that information was obtained through torture so we all see that that doesn't work. The Administration should never have backed off the inclusion of that statement, but I have never heard it alleged that the information was a result of torture. I think McCain went out on a limb there and sawed it off.

Cannot find anything whatsoever in a search of the Observer website regarding Ted Koppel talking with al-jazeera for a job. I'll continue looking elsewhere.

Koppel will, however, be doing some shows for HBO. So "retirement" might apply to Nightline but it is not a retirement entirely.

Hadley's response to Wallace's question re the "planting" of news stories in the Iraqi media was not only pathetic, but totally defensive, and is kiely to be pounced on by both the American LSM, and by the "insurgents" in Iraq. After listening to R. Limbaugh on this, and reading Anita's post to this thread, Hadley just surrendered like a Frenchman...

I hear Murtha has been under investigation by the justice department for some time now. This whole theatrical display is intended to make him the victim when he is indited. Don't know if it is true or not so don't ask. I wouldn't be surprised if it is true, and am certain if true we will hear that "Bush and Rove go after war hero for disagreeing on Iraq war".

Russert didn't jump on it. Betcha that statement goes away without a response from the other side.

ok this was really bothering me. I found the following on the website for the New York Observer (May 12, 2005 as I read the date):

"Among those attracted to the promise of foreign bureaus and nearly limitless resources is Dave Marash, a former Nightline correspondent and onetime anchor of WCBS New York, who is negotiating a job in the Washington bureau, according to sources close to the journalist. David Frost, the veteran BBC journalist and the first to interview Richard Nixon after Watergate, signed on earlier this summer. Former Nightline anchor Ted Koppel had a meeting with a representative from Al Jazeera International in Washington this fall, according sources close to Mr. Koppel. But nothing came of it.

"Mr. Marash couldn’t be reached for comment; Mr. Koppel declined an interview request through his assistant; and Mr. Frost didn’t return several calls."

Kean's son is going to run for senate. I'll stay home if he's the candidate.

Punishing the son for the father!

McCain had only one agenda when he wrote the CFR bill. Punishing the groups that advertised against him when he ran for president.

Little did he know, it would give the Swift Boat Vets for President a venue that was untouchable by the new rules.

Except for the already public disagreement with McCain regarding Rumsfeld, I do not have any problem with McCain this morning with his positions on the war. VERY good defense of why we're there, what would have happened if we didn't go in, why we must stay. Doesn't have a problem with PR campaign paying to get positive press in the Iraq as long as its truthful. No problem at all with McCain's Iraq/military positions (for example the need to increase size of army and marines to take pressure off of guard/reserve units). Not to bad on other topics this a.m. (excepting on prisoner interrogation), certainly doesn't raise my BP like the Rats he usually has on.

He just called US forces terrorists, didn't he?

I guess that beats Jenjis Khan!

Still, Kerry hasn't changed a bit since 1971, has he? We need Tonk's picture of Kerry with his bloody back-stabin' knife!

"McCain was a flier and had no command experience that I know of."

As I understand, he crashed due to pilot eror (I may be wrong on this) on his 3rd mission. I wonder if he went to War/Command College whatever they called it then.

We here in Arizona hear stories, some true and some not true about John-On-the-Edge.

There are still questions about his first marriage, his involvement with the Keating-Five and other issues. I, personally, wouldn't vote for McCain for dawg kacher

Yes. That is the kook left, of course, as Rush consistently point out.

Past time for the Repubs to get into full battle mode - Lord, where is today's Lee Atwater? Playing nice with the likes of F-n is self destruction.

Rush has brought his A game on this consistently. We need our people to pick up on this and, if the Dims continue their present course, get down in the mud with 'em.

Will Chris Wallace put up the list of murders in California and ask how much more will the citizens accept?

Saw the list and more people were murdered in CA last year than died in the entire Iraq liberation for these three years.
