Missile Attack On Passenger Jet?
Radio News | November 28, 2005

Posted on 11/28/2005 4:49:25 AM PST by texianyankee

I heard on the radio this morning, that a pilot of a passenger jet departing LAX claimed to have narrowly avoided being hit by a missile. It was reported that the jet was about 6,000 feet in altitude & over the ocean when the event occurred. The news report further stated that authorities believe it was possibly a flare or a "bottle rocket."

I googled but found nothing. Anyone else have some info on this? I dont recall whether it was CBS or NBC radio news.

Anyone care to tell me what flare or bottle rocket can pass a jetliner? Hmmmmm?

Passing by doesn't mean it caught up to it in flight, it merely means that the device was near the aircraft at some point in their trajectories. Most likely the passing was in the vertical dimension. Both flares and bottle rockets could have a higher rate of climb than an airliner, at least for a very short period. Especially an airliner mainly trying to get away from land, but not trying to gain too much altitude (IE. Noise abatement procedures).

We have perfercted the 6,000 foot altitude bottle rocket. There is no need for fueling missile theories. Now back to the Today show with Matt and Katie in NY

One of the posters at that aviation site says that the flight was LAX to ORD FLIGHT 1364, not FLIGHT 621.

He doesn't state how he knows this though.

It seemed like one of you all was a whiz at looking up flight info, so I wanted to bring that info into the thread, just to see if that new flight number would bring up any good information.

I am so glad that this story is still struggling to be told!

Can't get on that site without registering, and obviously one of the posters here is registered.

Please provide any information we have on this., ex.

What was the departure time, flight number, airline...

AA 612, 621, or 1364? Time is important...LAX definitely the departure airport?

I know the news report stated the flight was 6,000 feet in altitude . . .

6,000 feet into flight maybe? Your original post says, "it was reported." I'd like to see an official report to find out whether that figure applies to altitude or distance.

Hey. Well, we've gone below three layer tinfoil. This is now being read on the local Austin KLBJ drive-time talk show. Is it "cover up," or modern alternative-media "telephone game" echo chamber? I hate the popcorn ani-gifs, but here, it's apropos!

Does this need to have a new thread for each media rehash of the same info? If a new news story comes out with a new bit of info, like the pilot's name...ok. But, can we at least get a thread header on the top of latest?
