I think you are right Morgan. Polls today will be nothing like weeks before the 06 elections.

How? OK? Tell me how you do it. The same people that have no problem with their techs putting an X over Cheney's face during this week's speech are going to be compelled to bow to your wishes HOW? I am not real interested in hearing this endless parade of "Why don't they do this for us" posts. I am really curious. How many of dozens of Sand Rats posts about Iraq that he posts daily do any of you read? Really interesting thing. Not one of them comes from a "news media" source. Funny how not one of those positive stories ever gets picked up by the Dinosaur Media. So, Ma'am, tell me why I should want to empower the media that is busy trying to destroy everything I believe in? A format that reaches less people weekly COMBINED then 1 Talk Radio host, Rush Limbaugh reaches in 1 15 minute segment? But that's right, the Freeper Dogma is set "We must do a better job of getting our message out" And we base this all on polls that fundamentally changed their way of gathering data. But we must ask NO question that MAYBE the polls are skewed and we should be pointing out HOW they are skewed instead of running around like chickens VALIDATING the Lefts use of skewed polling data. Great work. Way to go team. Guess what. You will NOT see Bush above 40 ever again in a "News" poll. The tactics is legitimated now since everyone on the Right is just accepted the polling data presented to them as reality with NO effort made to question the underlying assumptions used to form the polls.

Question NO one will answer. HOw come Rassmussen shows him at 46%? The same pollster who nailed the 2004 race now gets ignored by "Conservatives" who cling to the illusions presented in the Dinasour Media? What is it that forces "Conservatives" to ignore anything that does NOT come spoon fed to them by the Enemy press? How about you all quit looking to your enemies for your "news" Guess what. They all rely on YOU watching. Their power resided in their ability to ATTRACT you to them. Quit buying your News from sources that are actively working to undermine your principals. Quit trying to win them over. Cause, and I know this always comes as a big surprise to most political junkies, MOST PEOPLE ARE NOT PAYING ANY ATTENTENTION to all this. Half of them do NOT ever care enough to vote. The bulk of the rest will not start thinking about it until around Sept. of an election year. The POWER of the Sunday Morning Talk Shows is all ILLUSION. It exists cause they MARKET it that way.

You are not a hand wringer, you are a pragmatist, and you speak what is on your mind. You do not bash the President and you do not jump on the criticize everything bandwagon. When you disagree you say as much, but not in a strident way, it is always in a grown up logical way.

I pray to the Lord that Bush is not stupid enough to ask Jolie the time of day. She is involved with one of the most rabid anti Republican actors in Hollywood. The best friend of George Clooney. She was married to Billy Bob Thorton, good buddy of Bill Clinton. Do you think she has different political views from those in her immediate circle? She will embarrass Bush,in the most public way, if he approaches her for help.

re Rahm "popping up all over the place:

I thought it was interesting when the house was debating the Murtha "lets pull out of Iraq" ....little old Rahm was given 4 minutes to speak , when most were getting less than a minute.
I think he is behind alot of this 'Rat strategy, as he was with Clinton.
This is an ambitious man.

Just noting that we're on the Sunday Talk Show thread .. and most of us watch, I think, to analyze the "know-thy-enemy" stalking points, chicanery and strategery... and that's necessary and smart.

The same problem takes place on the Saturday evening talking head shows, the Sunday talking head show, all day long on CNN, CNN Headline News, FoxNews, on MSNBC, and CNBC.

You don't think anyone is watching these shows?

What would you suggest, we just pull Republicans off all these shows since it doesn't matter?

I agree....and I think the bill that he might veto hasn't gotten there yet...it is the one with several amendments, like John McCain's about the torture rules...and possibly, the spending cuts...that the congress chose to not impose like Bush wanted them...

I know that there are several coming out of committee in the next few weeks that have amendments that Bush isn't happy about...I am hoping that he will veto one or two of them JUST as we break for Christmas recess...hehe

Sounds like a plan. Glad to see this pleases you. Good.

Vetoing a McCain loaded bill wouldn't disappoint me in the slightest.

I think both Rush and Hannity have had a change of heart about mtp/tim probably thanks to us.

I think the same thing may have happened with Tony Snow vis a vis Harry Reid. He once said on his radio show that Harry Reid was a good guy and he was puzzled about his behavior. I had Reid in a dead lie (not hard) and emailed Tony that good people do not lie like that. Haven't heard the good guy comment again. Tony Snow is a good man and wants to believe the best about people as we all do, but some folks are just not worthy of our respect. Reid is one of them.

Russerts show was an exhibition in whats wrong with the MSM. Every single journalist on the show this morning repeated democrat talking points verbatim. All anti-Bush and anti-Iraq. Broder and Robinson were worried that people were not going to continue to place all blame on Katrina on Bush. Judy even attacked tax cuts, yet again. You could tell they did not like the administration fighting back. Absoltely atrocious.

no no no.....key lime from your island will be ok when you do the cooking! and conch! (is that how it's spelled?)

meat & potatoes ....hot, hearty stick to your ribs food & chocolate & peanut butter from my cool, gray, overcast island when I'm doing the cooking! In the summer in the San Juans, when it's a hot 60-70 degrees, we enjoy crab, salmon & clams....big ones, but now that it is cold, it's soup, stew and fried meat.

luv your lighthouse, it made me cry thinking of all the Cubans who drowned trying to get to the light of freedom.....

Where the Thomason's supposed to be the models for that movie with Billy Bob Thornton in it about the elections???

I am really ignorant about movie titles because I don't go to movies or watch them on TV...unless...

my 6 year old granddaughter comes to spend the night...like last night..and brings the DVD of "Herbie Rides Again"!!!

WOW---what a deep, thought provoking movie THAT was...LOL, but I loved every minute of it, since Kailey watched it with me.

I don't expect the media to BOW to my wishes. What a ridiculous statement. What we have to do is make it more rewarding to the media to cover the President than to ignore him. That means, in some cases, we have to TRICK them. It is supposed to be a unified policy.

That means that ALL factions work together for the same pupose. You are right that we should not be supporting liberal newspapers and magazines. BUT, we have a right to expect the Senators to do their part, and not stammer through an interview like they are clueless about the issues. And we CERTAINLY have a right to expect that senators and Republican pundits not attack the President (are you listening, George Will?).

The discussion is how to get better people on the talk shows. Whether they have large or small audiences isn't the problem; the talk shows are used (as I said at the beginning of this thread) to drive the coverage for the next week, and if we have weak representation then we are starting from behind.

To ask that the senators contibute a few positive soundbites and stand up for the President is a fairly reasonable position, if you ask me. In a few years, perhaps these shows will be defunct. They get fewer viewers each year. However, they still are setters of the agenda, and I don't like the way our side is represented on them.

So, you don't need to get so upset about this. I am certain this same discussion is going on between Rove, the President, Andy Card, and others. The President is doing his part with speeches. I expect my senator (Lugar) to do more than mumble through a Fox News interview. If he can't be helpful, I want him to refuse the invitation and let someone capable go on television.

You are wrong about there being some good Senators. There may be some otherwise good people in the Senate, but there are no good Senators. The US Senate is the most useless political body ever assembled. Pompous gasbags who hem and haw and bluster. Not one of them can accomplish anything. Your local letter carrier does more good for this country than all 100 of those oxygen thieves put together.
