Yes, Miss Lillian said she wished she'd never had children....they made her ashamed. She fled into the peace corps for a few of her last years to get away from the whole nutty bunch.

I have asked what you just said many times in a rhetorical way, of course...
WHY does President Bush always get the blame for spending...when half the time, Congress increases the amount that Bush puts in his budget...
Of course, then we get back----then why doesn't he veto the bills??? Which IS a good question....but, there are too many reasons to list...but mostly, I think that getting ANY bill through the House and the Senate...then, through a conference committee...and then BACK through the House and Senate...in such a PARTISAN time in Washington (remember, the dems will never believe that Bush is a legitimate POTUS)...
I think that Bush is just grateful to get anything TO sign..
I also think the biggest example of what I am trying to describe is the Energy Bill----Bush has been fighting for a comprehensive energy bill that would get us away from dependence on foreign oil....and what happens...
NOW..both dems and GOP are coming out saying we need a NEW Energy bill, even though they still won't allow drilling in ANWR and off shore.

Those and there are others too, who speak up.....
But on the whole, watching congress session on c-spann is getting as uncomfortable as witnessing one spouse tear apart the other publicly. You know, where one spouse calls the other a dimwit loser and the attacked one replies, "Oh honey, I know you don't really mean that"
A liberal states that the president lied.....the conservative "spouse" answers with some crap like "my friend and esteemed colleague and I disagree on this point"

There is truth in that. I'd imagine Bush is extremely frustrated at the fact he can't get more favorable legislation out of a House and Senate where his side is the majority.
Perhaps he gets more credit for the spending because he doesn't object. He needn't veto every bill that crosses his desk if he'd veto a select fiew announcing his opposition to them and others base on fiscal principles.
Ask MNJohnnie. He's the one that calls everyone, by his account.

It's true...she had a rapier wit and a sharp tongue and I think the "kids" were glad to have her out of the way as she had little use for them and said so publically.
I wish I'd been aware of this. I would have enjoyed watching it play out.

A leopard does not change their spots, Dems never change their tactics. I never in the last 15 years look at anything any dem does as positive or for the COuntry unless it is proven beyond a doubt. They are out for their Power and Control of Congress and Purse strings, they are never doing anything for the good of the People. Exception to the rule is Zell Miller.

I think that a lot of the reason that the Clinton's got so much publicity, other than just the normal amount for a POTUS and wife...is because two of their best friends were TV show producers...
I can't remember their names, but they were from Arkansas...and I think they are the ones that pushed the publicity from the Hollywood and New York set..
