"only six read it"

######

When I heard that many of the Republican Senators who voted FOR the resolution last week to exert more control over the White House execution of the war in Iraq, excused themselves by saying that they really did not understand what they were doing!, I realized that Congress is being run by permanent staff, not our elected senators, who act like Lords.

If they did not take time to think about the effects of that critical vote, what DO they take time to think about? Very little, I would say.

Freshman Senators who voted NO actually did recognize what they were signifying by their vote. They are new and actually are still mentally engaged in acting like senators.

I have to turn off MTP. Gregory just said that the WH was in the mood for a fight and when Alito didn't turn into much of a fight they turned their attention to the war. That's enough for me.

People forget, as well, that Saddam told his officers we would simply kill them once we found them, or he would if they didn't fight. To protect themselves from both sides most of the Iraqi officers escaped as a prudent choice of living. Once the fighting was over, if I remember right, many of these officers returned to enlist in the new coalition police and army forces.

I let my girlfriend switch it back to Lifetime movies rather than watch Russert try to relive Watergate.

Thanks. Just why I don't watch MTP if at all possible.

It was John Roberts, but you are right, there is not a dime's worth of difference.

And of course, the urinalists are correct and the 'public' is wrong because we are not worldly enough to understand

I could be wrong but think you misspelled "worldly" shouldn't it be "worthy"??? hehehe great comment!

If only I could my hands on Biden I see he is back to the dems favourite game discrediting the VP.

I have said it before but they are desperate to out Cheney because they believe they can win the House and Senate back in 2006 and if they do they will want to start proceedings to impeach the President but they want Cheney safely out of the way first. IMHO they have not really thought though who would be President all they can think about is their blind hatred of Bush and Cheney.

They probably would prefer Marshmallow LOL

There are definitely some red faces at NBC. "NBC did not interrupt its broadcast of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade to bring viewers the news that an M&M balloon had crashed into a light pole" - NBC leaves Matt & Katie to twist in wind.

"In fact, when the time came in the tightly scripted three-hour program for the M&Ms' appearance, NBC weaved in tape of the balloon crossing the finish line at last year's parade - even as the damaged balloon itself was being dragged from the accident scene."

Actually, they knew about it and since that accident is not in Baghdad street they decided to skip it as they can't complain about US miltary's incompetence in this.

As we are taliking about NBC, 15 Staffers Cut From Dateline NBC - Morale is at an all-time low at NBC.

So how to explain it to our children?

++++++

One significant difference that will be easy for young people to understand is that there was a draft, and huge numbers of casualties. As soon as the draft was ended [during the Nixon admin, btw], the college campus protests ended. So their protests.

Another difference is that then the Free World [aka us] was in a life or death struggle against the advances of the Soviet Empire. There is not a major military power trying to take over the world today.

"only six read it"

War. Sending troops into harms way. Protecting national security. Only six had time to actually read the intelligence reports!

I love your thinking, maica, which senators are "mentally engaged"?

And what did those senators say in the debate over the war resolution, and how did they vote?

Agreed but my main worry is that the real candidate is not encouraged to emerge with the left wing media fawning over McCain.

Roberts had all kinds of openings to smash-mouth Rockefeller the other week... Wallace had to do it for him.

Our pubbies leave their nuts in a curio-case before they go to work.
