The Crying Game So near in Iraq, so far at home.

"The president misled us." "Still no WMDs." "If I had only known then what I do now…"

This is the intellectual level of Democratic wartime criticism about the Bush administration as we near the third Iraqi election — the one that will finally give faces to the first truly elected parliamentary government in the Arab world.

---I hope he's being read in the White House--

Doubtful that he is.

So up until now, Democrats had an embarrassing paper trail that in the era of Google searches made it hard to claim that the war was Bush’s alone and not their own.

And yet that's just what they are doing.

You do of course know that shortly after 9-11 VDH gave a briefing to the senior staff at the Whitehouse.

The polls say Americans are tired of the war, but not yet ready to quit and give up on all that has been achieved, leaving brave Iraqi reformers to ninth-century beheaders and suicide-murderers.

I say that Americans are not tired of the war per se, they are tired of what Hanson calls "ankle biting".

How could Americans be tired of what, unless they have sons, daughters and/or close relatives involved in the war, doesn't affect them in the slightest?

There is no rationing of food, clothes, gas, sugar and a long list of other items that required sacrifice on the part of all Americans. We have no blackout curtains on our windows nor blackout lights on our cars. The list of sacrifices we are not making is too long to post.

In the past month I have been working away from my home base and have had the pleasure of attending going away parties for a young Marine sniper and an equally young Navy diver. These are the finest young people it is even possible to meet and it just makes me sick to my stomach to listen to the BS emanating from the Democrat party and even sicker to listen to the sappy repitition of it from ignorant eastern MA liberals. (Yes, the work is in MA on Cape Cod. Thank the Lord my conservative working and military friends are still there or I'd be bonkers. Another week and out!)

A sanctimonious Jimmy Carter sitting next to the buffoonish Michael Moore at the Democratic Convention in VIP seats--this is the intellectual level of the Democrat Party.
