Everyone observes Holidays differently. Some people celebrate Christmas and to others, Christmas is a celebration.
To many people the 4th of July is just a day to BBQ, get drunk and shoot off fireworks, but to others it is a day to remember those who served and sacrificed for our Country.
I respect those who show their convictions and boycott for what they believe in.
Those who don't have those beliefs and choose to give up their payed days off, Christmas bonuses, turkeys and hams,etc, I would respect also.
I've never been asked to donate by a Salvation Army volunteer.
In 2003, Forbes Magazine rated them as one of the most efficient charities with 85 cents of every dollar going to those who needed help. They aren't only around for Christmas and natural disasters but also for everyday needs, including a Missing Persons Service, housing for seniors and alcohol/drug rehabilitation services, along with homeless shelters, hospital visitation and food distribution throughout the year. Unlike most charities, they are run like an army as opposed to a bureaucracy.
The bell-ringers aren't so much beggars as they are reminders about others needing a little help. They've never called me on the phone or try to trick me into donating. They just ring a bell and let your conscience do the talking.

The GOP needs to do whatever it takes to equate attacks on Christmas with the Democrat Party and the ACLU. To begin with, they need to be vocal and loud about their disappointment in so many businesses and institutions that are disrespecting Christmas.
If the Republicans don't do it, some clever Democrats will see it as another "Sister Soljah" opportunity to demonstrate to the mindless masses that they are "into those religion and tradition things".
It just blows me away when I see Democrats jumping on issues like illegal aliens and property confiscation by eminent domain before the Republicans have even woken up. Somebody better take charge of that party, and quick.

Being able to spend you money however "foolishly" you want is one of the great things about this country.
Say,..spending it supporting an organization that helps to undermine your personal religious faith.
That would be foolish.
Then tell others not to go there.
There are people left in America who will stand by their Christian faith against this growing onslaught of evil.
You are free to shop where you wish.
The spike in retail business at the end of the year owes EVERYTHING to the annual celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and the giving spirit derived from that celebration.
Some of us haven't forgotten that.
You insult "religious conservatives" whose grassroots efforts are all that stand between you and the pagan, amoral leftists who would take political power in this country in a heartbeat if the Christians did not fight hard for what is moral and right at every election cycle.
Then you better check the labels on the goods at cheap old Target. LOL. Amen.
would that be the same salvation army who's kettle guard wished me "Happy Holiday" last week and I promptly corrected him with Merry Christmas ?
Then the Godless unions would have something else with whcih to attack Walmart. Not that I'm against your idea. I shop at Walmart whenever possible just to stick my finger in the eye of disorganized labor.

WRONG, it did last year, their sales for Christmas were way down. Amen.
If you go to Sears, walk over to the "Wishing Trees" and ask a sales person where the Christmas trees are. If they say right here, just respond oh, no I'm looking for Christmas trees not wish trees. Christmas is about Jesus and His birth and we use Christmas trees as part of our celebration of this greatest of all events. Then just walk away. Oh and don't forget to wish him/her a very Merry Christmas. Amen.
So target will cater to the 1% of the population and PO the 84% of Christians. Marketing strategy can't be that dumb. Amen.
I have to disagree with you on this. The Federation chain - which owns Macy's and other high retail department stores - did not use Merry Christmas last year. They were hit hard as their profits dropped. This year - it is Merry Christmas and Christmas trees. Boycotts do work.
Getting them to call it Christmas instead of a Holiday was certainly a major victory. This is how the left wins, by getting us to focus on this sort of thing.
