A surge in random violence has pushed San Francisco's homicide rate ahead of last year's pace, leaving city officials wondering what more they can do to reduce the bloodshed.
Two killings took place Friday. In the first, a carpenter was gunned down in the morning as he walked in a Mission District alley, possibly because he was wearing a blue shirt in territory claimed by a gang that wears red.
Then at 6:30 p.m., an unidentified man was gunned down in the 1600 block of Sunnydale Avenue.
The two killings brought the city's total to 84 slayings in 2005, compared with 81 at this time last year.
Until recently, police and city officials had been encouraged by a drop in homicides that dated from the middle of 2004. That was around the time local authorities began working with federal law enforcement to charge chronic violent offenders with federal gun possession crimes that could put them behind bars for long stretches.

Gee...Who could have seen forseen this?
Who could pozsibly tell us whether or not it's
going to get much much worse?
San Fransicko... A city DESTROYED by excesses, liberalism, leftists and a refusal to acknowledge they are their own worse enemy... A poster child city for demonstrating the consequences of placing feckless imbeciles in charge...
I live close enough, to get to Fisherman's Wharf within an hours pleasant drive....
Decades ago -- I went to the city frequently to enjoy the vistas, restaurants and theater..
Not anymore....
Aggressive panhandlers make a career of blocking sidewalks, urine stench that hangs over parts of the city as it does along the Mexican border, outrageously homosexual waiters with multiple pins, studs and tattoos...don't contribute to either a relaxing environment or appetite...
Much of the city now seems "unclean" on so many levels...

Why, clearly the answer is to ban handguns!
Oh wait. They did that.
Well then: They need to BAN HANDGUNS EVEN HARDER!
Call in the military to restore order! No, wait. They hate the military in Sodom by the Bay. Let's just let them lie in the bed they made for themselves.
They make fun of us people here in eastern Kentucky for being Hillbillies but we dont have all that fag crap running up and down our streets. We live in the best part of the good ol USA
I still can't believe they voted to disarm themselves.
I don't live there, but if I did, and this somehow wasn't overturned, I'd leave.
I'm an intentional straight man.
In both meanings of the term.
LOL......that'll stop it, right?
Ban police recruiting, and dismantle the department, and glorious peace will descend upon Camelot by the Sea.
Send them to good ol Kentucky and we will take care of them.
San Francisco proper is a cess pool.
"possibly because he was wearing a blue shirt in territory claimed by a gang that wears red."
