CAIRO, Egypt Leaders of Iraq's sharply divided Shiites, Kurds and Sunnis called Monday for a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S.-led forces in the country and said Iraq's opposition had a "legitimate right" of resistance.
The final communique, hammered out at the end of three days of negotiations at a preparatory reconciliation conference under the auspices of the Arab League, condemned terrorism, but was a clear acknowledgment of the Sunni position that insurgents should not be labeled as terrorists if their operations do not target innocent civilians or institutions designed to provide for the welfare of Iraqi citizens.

Good for you. Please come here often and help out. The forum needs to have folks like you tell what your experiences are on the ground. My hat is off to you.
It's amazing to me how many people think you can turn a nation of tens of millions around in only a year or two.
This will take time, but we're on the right track people. Please be patient and tell the democrats change their diapers and quit throwing a temper tantrum.

I made it not quite halfway thru the slideshow. I was doing great looking at cammies. Then I got to the puppy. Then the evening sky. Then a couple of sunsets. Then, the purple fingers.
I see such a beautiful land, a people with hope, do I not?
I can't tell for the tears.
At the risk of calling this a Holy War...
Matt. 19:26, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
"All things work together for good to them that love God" (Romans 8:28).
Now. You tell those Iraqis I said to stand up straight and square their shoulders! )

If the US left tomorrow, what do you think the average lifespan of an Iraqi politician would be? Somehow I doubt they want us to leave immediately.

Hey folks, if the Iraqis want us out, it's their country. No need to stay and get our boys killed in a place we aren't wanted. If they want their fate in their own hands, then we need to step out of the way and let them do it themselves.

I could tell you were heading down a dark path, and I was protecting you from yourself.
Obviously, chivalry isn't dead after all.
You called yourSELF a dove, sir. A dove is not what I call a tough guy. Are you trying to have it both ways here? Or will you admit that you set yourself up for being called less than manly by your own admission of dovishness?
I said I was dovish compared to CC.

Thank you, PatriotGirl. We've got some great photos of our son playing soccer with Iraqi kids, and posing with shopkeepers and just guys on the street.
He was bothered that the few who were our enemies forced them to be wary of the vast majority who were glad we were there.

Hey.......what would the world be like if we didn't watch out for each other?
(I'm planning on telling my husband about your 'manly' comment, though.......but I'll probably wait until we're in bed. ;).

It is so good to hear things like that straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak. I am feeling kind of frustrated tonight because I am the only conservative, Bush-loving, Iraq war supporter in my family, and your post lifted me up.
I bet your son has some stories to tell. I imagine it would be hard, in a way, to come back here to the USA, where there is som much negativity about the war.

Sorry to have made you spill your coffee...but be ready when you up FR in the morning. Truth is but a click away.

I fear your right. The left is loony and couldn't be trusted if America was attacked, to be thrown a weapon to defend the homeland! At least when we had 9/11 I asked my neighbor if he had enough weapons, and he said "Oh ya, tell them ragheads to bring it on!"
Great tagline, unfortunately, it is too true.
To: PatriotGirl827
Our son has a pretty good perspective on things. He's a strong conservative, and he understands how leftist the media is, and he actually takes things more in stride than I do.
He also gets ALL his info now from military sites. He NEVER accepts stuff in the MSM as being accurate when it comes to Iraq (like some of the not too bright folks around here do.....).

No, this is their way of saying "We're going to settle a lot of scores as soon as its just us and the Sunnis." I don't think so. What's more likely is Iran and Syria will inundate Iraq with terrorists, carve the country up, and one by one the Iraqi leaders will be given leave of their heads. They haven't shown the stomach to fight for freedom yet, and ought to be careful what they wish for.
